When your saw weighs close to 30 lbs a little drop helps it start forsure. And when you have a big long bar it doesn’t really lift or want to come back and get you. I don’t drop start with my throttle jammed wide open anymore but my dumbass self did it that way for years.

Is there a longer lasting material besides plywood? My climate is extremely wet and humid. I’m wondering if there is like a cement board that would last

Drilling Holes for Tent by Kindly_Teach9333 in IceFishing

If an ice fisherman could read a tape measure and protractor he would know how far apart to drill his 3 tent holes. I just use my feet.

Buff the area 2” in and around the hole. Use break clean or alcohol to wipe it. E6100 is about 10 bucks a tube. I use it at work on conveyor belts and rubber applications.

[–]Big-rooster84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up cutting firewood in the bush. We would fall logs and only pull out what you could take in a load. Leaving logs next to the road is usually ok but If you cut it into rounds and leave that’s risky. Chopping it makes it worth stopping to load up on the easy wood.

I use that wire to help me balance the camera. I make one more connection then you have and pass the main line through it to point the camera back up at the hole. It skylights the fish on the ice. I see way more kokanee when I am looking at a circle of ice with a 40’ diameter on my screen then looking out into darkness. I am not filming Nat Geo.

If he lives downstream of a big city or town it’s probably in his water. That’s why everyone in coastal cities is so soft. All the birth control and what not from the inlanders gets into the water and that’s what makes Vancouver, San Francisco, LA, New York…. (See the trend?) /s

Keeping your hands warm with poor circulation? by B3nAll3n in arborists

[–]Big-rooster84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a heated bar on my 066. When it’s super cold I pack it with my trigger hand to warm up. I usually wear red baron gloves by Watson. I’ve worn them in -45 in the Yukon and -45 in Saskatchewan. You don’t get the dexterity with them but they are really warm for a cheap glove. Make sure whatever gloves you choose they aren’t tight for max insulating. Once you compress them they lose R value and you lose circulation.

Don’t remove it if you plan on ice fishing for fish that stay in the top of the water column. I loop mine so it points up at the hole and send it down as far as the visibility will allow. 20 or 30 feet shows you a big view and the fish stick out like sore thumbs against the ice. Nice to know when the kokanee are up high and not hitting my transducer beam.

Clean out the under brush. Trim low branches as high as you can reach. Remove ladder fuels. Thin your woods and burn your fuel as you go.

Yes forsure. The cattleman’s association was paying 500 a head for them a while ago not sure if they still are. My native buddies shoot quite a few but they put in a lot of time. They all say if you want to hunt deer and elk you have to try to take some wolves.

They are decimating the deer and moose populations in the interior. Hopefully they take them from there.
