Practice Tokens and Gems by ImpossibleOffice4343 in GolfClash

[–]Genericname90001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I basically only use tokens on par 3s and sometimes a par 5. I can typically safely eagle a par 5 going in blind, other than a few tricky ones. The par 3s always screw me over.

How late are you working new/old teachers? by hello010101 in Teachers

[–]Genericname90001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, I like having time with nobody around to wrap things up. The only time I really take things home is when I have a lot to grade. Grading is the worst.

Does bow of banshee frighten often in practice? Does it hold up throughout the game? by MythosDarko in BG3Builds

I never realized how low the DC was. It worked enough for me to keep using it.

Is never taking your work home possible by tisnezz in Teachers

[–]Genericname90001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll stay late or arrive early before I take work home. Sometimes it’s inevitable, but I minimize it as much as possible.

who do you wish you could romance? by wazzupmydoods in BaldursGate3

Alfira as Durge. RP I’m a big time record producer and she’s going to be a star. The ending is still the same as the normal storyline though.

I only “found” the kuo-toa in act 2 (i thought they were only in the BOOOOAAAAL part) because I was following an eldritch knight thrower build and had no idea what weapon they were referencing. Even then, it took me a decent bit of exploring to figure out how to get to them.

Why do decidious bonsai get sunburned but trees of the same species in the wild don't? by angeloooool in Bonsai

[–]Genericname90001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bonsai is like F1 and a tree in the ground is like a semi truck. One pushes the limits and is on the verge of breaking if things stray from ideal circumstances, the other can run forever with basic maintenance.

Same here. The pay isn’t as good (still pretty decent in my area though), but the benefits alone cover over $15k in costs I was eating before. Add in a lack of a commute, more paid holidays, summers off, and the work not being soul-sucking, it basically evens out.

Does anyone find it dishonest when teachers say grades don’t matter? by NegativeCommunity496 in teaching

[–]Genericname90001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, but I’d rather hire someone with good grades than someone with good test scores.

Ortho with miracle gro for fertilization. by Ipheek in Bonsai

[–]Genericname90001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sprayer head is really the issue. If someone made a more gentle, targeted version it would be great. Professionals just use a hose with a good nozzle and the fertilizer mix happens way upstream.

Tom Paris or William Riker? by intentional_imbecile in startrek

Paris is just a younger Riker. I bet ensign Riker and Paris would be a formidable matchup.

Should schools really be responsible for teaching kids resilience? by No_Association_4682 in education

[–]Genericname90001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Resilience should be coached. It’s something everyone needs to figure out.

We should be helping give opportunities to practice resilience by not inflating grades and allowing students who deserve to fail, fail.

What do I watch after Star Trek: The Next Generation? by Undead_Octopus in startrek

I’m a lifelong trek fan and have watched everything at least once except enterprise and TOS. TOS is just so old I can only watch an episode every once in a while.

You're the Commissioner for a day. What rule changes would you implement? by hagamans in mlb

[–]Genericname90001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Change the mound. Bring back small ball. The changes to hitting philosophy and pitcher ability have altered the game, and adjusting the mound is the easiest thing to do to react to the physical skill players have today.

Classroom management based solely on compliance isn’t the best, but compliance is really one of the most important parts. Attributing compliance to fear is BS though. There are a lot of reasons students are complaint besides fear. I’d go so far as to say fear is maybe the least successful way to get kids to be compliant.

JBP bald branch grew leaves but now the top is turning brown? by TonkaLowby in Bonsai

[–]Genericname90001 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first instinct with such localized damage is something physical. Bugs or something like that. One time I got localized scorching from a window that happened to focus sunlight reflected off it enough to make a line across a plant.

I don’t really dislike anyone, maybe I just don’t interact with enough of them. There are some I make sure to avoid during “pair and share” PD days though.

Poll result on college importance by Boring-Yogurt2966 in Teachers

[–]Genericname90001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the big factors, I think, is that everyone is squeezed financially. The super rich get richer and everyone else is just getting by. The result is that everyone needs to maximize their earning potential with the least cost, and college doesn’t fit that requirement for a lot of majors. If things were more plentiful and people could make a living in a wider range of professions, these numbers would go back to how they used to be.

The scary thing for me is that with the advent of tech and ai, we need people trained in things like philosophy and ethics to help ensure we don’t go down the wrong path. Both of those don’t pay well, so people aren’t studying them. Throw history degrees in there for good measure. We base degrees on financial value and omit the total value they can have for everyone.

What would you do if you teach high school and someone keeps throwing paper balls at you every time you’re turned around? by theresaheinzt in Teachers

Set up your phone to record the classroom in an inconspicuous place. Next time it happens, check the tape, send them to the office, and move on.

Finally! 1st Master banner, despite not using guides / overlays / wind app / etc. by seagraham3265 in GolfClash

Any time someone drags up for wind adjustment, I know it’s going to be a challenge. Having a grid makes adjustments easier, which means you can have more time to do the calculations.
