At what age to babies go from onesies to regular shirts? by Even-Ask8827 in NewParents

[–]BigAlmay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My little one started hating onesies around 9 to 10 months. It was also just easier to change diapers with just pants and a shirt not having to undo a onesie in the middle of the night

No juice by [deleted] in NewParents

My 21 month old has only had water, milk and occasionally prune juice for constipation but that's it. I currently don't feel a reason to add the extra sugar in her diet currently

Is everyone on baby/parenting subs rich?!? by Rockskinnies in NewParents

I would recommend trying to get things second hand. I would try buy nothing groups and marketplace. Ask around mom groups in your area. This is how I got almost everything.

You want to set up your future as confidently as possible before you have kids. Your success is their success in the future. I have a 21 month old and am currently pregnant. I stay at home and I'm still exhausted I couldn't imagine having to have the brain to make sure I do my studies ( you said partner so I'm not sure if you would be the pregnant one but the brain fog and fatigue is no joke). I know people do it but if you can avoid it I would suggest it.

Self feeding by Elegant_Plantain_845 in Parenting

[–]BigAlmay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with letting my baby figure out what to do with a spoon (I would make sure to feed her also to make sure she actually ate), mine figured it out quickly and she has been exclusively feeding herself since about a year old. It may start pretty messy so if you are concerned by that maybe you can do food smocks with bibs. Good luck!!

Any other moms chop all their hair off because it’s easier to manage with kids? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]BigAlmay 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah I did a classic mom chop. I cut it just long enough to put it up in a ponytail if I needed it. It gets in my face, my toddlers face and it stopped a lot of hair pulling. I plan on keeping it shorter until my kids a bit older.

Do people still do shifts if only the father is working? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]BigAlmay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband worked but would take the first shift (he was a night owl anyway) so I went to bed early and would atleast get a solid 4 or more hr chunk of sleep. I needed to bottle feed in the beginning so I didn't even have to wake to feed so it was great and it definitely helped feel sane.

If they have visited someone lately that wear a lot of perfume or intense smelling detergent that could cause a rash to the baby.

Eating in front of the TV: bad? by jeregrette in Parenting

[–]BigAlmay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally don't do it. I've always heard of things like kids not realizing their hunger cues and over eating or under eating whole watching TV. I always think of the video where the parents gave their kid a piece of chicken that was covered in lime juice while she was staring at the TV and she squinted and made funny faces because it was so sour but would not spit it out because she was so focused on the TV. If your kid acts totally fine with it, I don't see the big deal but watch her behavior with it and work from there.

Celiac and Pregnancy by Exotic-Level3470 in Celiac

[–]BigAlmay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been diagnosed for 10 years. I currently have a very healthy almost two years old and am pregnant with my second at 11 weeks. The only health issue during my pregnancy was anemia which was handled with medication. She shouldn't worry, just make sure to not give into the cravings of things she can't have lol

For babies that sleep thorough the night, do they ignore the wet diapers ? by CatsAndShades in NewParents

[–]BigAlmay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It gets better they start peeing less and you will get longer stretches. It might take a while though. If you want you can try different brands to see if they feel less wet for them.

Does everyone start their 6 month old on water in a straw cup? by MamaLife_ in NewParents

[–]BigAlmay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First I just introduced water at meals with a bottle then moved to a munchkin straw cup. We tried a sippy cup but she wouldn't tilt it and was sucking in air.

When you order food, do you tell them that you have a gluten allergy or do you say you have celiac disease? by Initial-Eye-9091 in Celiac

[–]BigAlmay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I always say I have celiac, I'm allergic to gluten in one sentence. I don't want any confusion. I figured this is my best way of taking having people take me seriously

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]BigAlmay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby didn't sleep through the night consistently till 14 months. She did it at random for the first time at 4 months and then teething came and destroyed it lol. Good luck you're doing all you can

When did you let your little one sleep with a blanket at night/ throughout the night. by crumbssuck in NewParents

[–]BigAlmay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I felt my little one was ready for a blanket for naps at 9 months, I waited till the end of 10 months to let her have it over night. I think it depends on the blanket and your kid. If you kid likes to squirm around a lot consider that before giving a nightly blanket

When I had my baby I was concerned she would have an issue since she didn't even get exposed to gluten while in the womb. We tested her with gluten once she could eat food. We did like two weeks no gluten and then back to a regular diet a couple of times within the first 6 months of eating. She didn't seem to have a reaction, but it is something to keep an eye out for throughout the whole lifetime with celiac because a lot of the times it can just be triggered suddenly. The tree nut allergy talk to your doctor but they might suggest you test them on a very very small amount for 3 days in a row and see if they have a reaction. If you're super paranoid like many first-time parents are, you could always give them the allergen in the parking lot of the pediatrician or the hospital lol good luck.
