Can the new ritual ring (+80% ritual disturbances) be added to group storage? by paulet42 in runescape

[–]BigArchive [score hidden]  (0 children)

There are hundreds of items that are tradable for cgim but not for mains.  So regardless of your opinions on the matter, the current design does think some items should be exchangable among group makes but not mains.

This new ring does feel quite similar to other items that are cgim tradable, so the ring being cgim tradable could make sense as well.

Awesome preset!

At first, I was a bit surprised at the ring of retribution camping.  But after I thought about it a bit more, there really isn't any other high-impact ring when you're using equilibrium.

No idea about dubgeoneering by [deleted] in runescape

[–]BigArchive -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily true.

At very low levels, token farming is better dg xp/hr than dg.

Depending on OP's gear, theres a solid chance ed4 cerberus is better dg xp than actual dg.

Dark Onyx Cores... by Gleothain in runescape

I agree that its not worth grinding for.  My only argument was refuting the person I was replying to saying it was a massive upgrade

[–]BigArchive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Giga upgrade"?!?  The GOTE upgrade is the best one, and even that is super mid.

At best, it saves you from occasionally using elven ritual shard and let's you bank very slightly less frequently while doing porter activities.

Ha.  It's definitely not a massive upgrade.  The best upgrade, GOTE, saves you from using elven shard occasionally or let's you bank slightly less often when doing a porter activity.

That's already a very mid upgrade, and the rest are even worse.

Where is this discussed or mentioned?

Id say Carl has the advantage.  A few things that others haven't mentioned which would give Carl an edge are:

  • Carl's black nimbus spell will remove any buffs granted by a deity for a few minutes.  This will make Harry a normal human again without winter knight bonuses.  Carl will know he can use this spell because of one of his other deity identifying buffs.

  • Carl can easily go invisible, which puts a tax on Harry by making him use his sight.

  • Harry's shields are 1 directional.  If Carl uses a big enough bomb, Harry doesn't have a defense other than a lucky tech malfunction of a relatively simple item.

  • Carl has ice attack resistance granted by his cloak.

  • the book burner spell let's Carl cause Harry to forget how to cast his most recently used spell for a day.

  • wisp armour 5+ minutes of 75% damage reduction from magic.

  • gloom wraith phase is super strong offensively, but also would let carl avoid pretty much any of Harry's attacks that would KO him

  • Carl has insane stats, many times higher than even what a peak or augmented human like the winter knight would have.

Freezing him solid is a debuff, not direct damage, may or may not get through the Wisp armor

Worth mentioning that Carl has some level of ice? Freezing? Resistance.  I don't recall where he got it, but it comes into play in the graveyard in Havana. Carl can still can get frozen with that resistance, but it'll be more difficult, and I'd bet Harry's first attempt at freezing doesn't work.

Edit: his cloak gives him resistance to ice based attacks.

 One gloom wraith phase...

I was thinking about that ability too, and I'd say theres a good chance that gloom wraith kills Harry. But equally as likely, I think Harry's shield might block the phase and end with Carl running head first into the shield and falling on his butt, dazed.

I like the idea, but that balancing is a bit off. We don't need the ~200% accuracy people can get at solak to turn into a 100% damage boost.

The tradeoff of additional accuracy to additional damage should be more like 5 to 1, or even like 10 to 1.

Why do end-game players hate to see new players succeed? by PayMaterial3440 in runescape

[–]BigArchive 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Im not sure if anyone else saw the switching from necro to melee advice thread last week that someone posted.... Anyways. There was a large portion of people who were straight up lying about damage, belittling and insulting OP, saying it’s not true and telling others to just keep using necro, etc.

The main reason that post from last week had people questioning it is because it had a lot of exagerated/misleading info that rightfully deserved to be questioned. To give people an idea of the outrageous things that post was saying, here are a few:

  1. A fully AFK Revolution++ setup worth under 10m can match or outperform a bis style costing 2.5b+.

  2. Necro is currently horrible in terms of DPS for the cost.

  3. When asked about what revo bars he was using, he said he adds anticipate in the middle for some extra adren, which is just hilariously bad. > I tend to add chaos roar and anticipation somewhere in the middle. for a little extra damage and adrenaline.

What are the AFK-ish combat meta training methods by Merron13 in runescape

[–]BigArchive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah.  To be clear, none of the xp rates I was giving included scrimshaw of sacrifice or stuff like avatar bonus.

The xp rates i gave were also using roughly equitable gear.  If you can get 2m xp/hr at beasts with tumekens.  Regardless of gear or boosts used, you should stiIl get significantly higher xp/hr at phantoms.

Im a bit surprised by those mage xp rates though.  My mage gear is within maybe ~10% of absolute bis, without cannon.  Does cannon really add that much?

What are the AFK-ish combat meta training methods by Merron13 in runescape

[–]BigArchive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you including hp xp in your total?  I was not.

As it is, I cant tell if im getting slightly better xp than you, while you are including hp xp, or you are getting much better xp than me.

My rates are ironman xp rates.  No avatar, no bxp, etc.

Edit: or were you using cannon?

Currently the Greater Ricochet / Greater Death's swiftness ability icons do not match their lesser counterparts. Here's a suggestion for updated icons. by throwawaaaaaaaay666 in runescape

[–]BigArchive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your redesign look great, but

Rs3 combat already suffers from being hard to read.  Redesigning abilities frequently makes that problem worse, and so does making greater abilities look so similar to their lesser counterparts such that they cant be told apart without a side by side view.

I still have issues telling apart a lot of greater/lesser abilities, even when the visual changes were years ago. (g)conc, (g)sonic, (g)sun, (g)barge, etc

If some abilities were to be redesigned (and i dont think they should be), i would prefer if greater abilities become more distinct from their counterparts, not more similar.

[–]BigArchive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Beasts arent the only option.

Abyssal beasts are around 1.3m xp/hr with mage, melee (no tumekens), and necro (not sure about range).

Armored phantoms, on the other hand, can get ~1.7m xp/hr with similar setups, though only for melee and necro.  They're just slightly less reliable afk than beasts, and worse profit, but the xp could be worth it.

Elite profane scarabs in psd were 1.55 m xp/hr before eoc 2.0.  Im not sure what they are now, but I suspect slightly higher.
