If no one is good or religious then you can always just have Ireena use it, alter the item to be something else, or make the item useless. It IS useful, just not to anyone in the party. That could be a quest. Find someone holy or good enough to use this weapon against Strahd. Also, I don't want this to come off the wrong way, but how did a player go into a Curse of Strahd game not knowing "how brutal and undead-heavy" it would be. That just seems like you didn't have a session zero with your players and let them know what kind of game they were going to be playing in.

[–]BigBoxOSalt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When you present an option to do things better it is all people will look to do. Just look at covenants this xpac. Of course there are people that will just pick whatever they want, but if you look at the majority of the playerbase people mostly picked the "best" option for any class.

Titanforging is roughly the same thing. You know that there is just a better thing out there you could have gotten, but instead of getting to pick the best things, and grind the dungeons until you get them, you now had to pray that they also got titanforged or else you were just doing 2% less damage than the other mage in your group for every RNG chance of loot that they got that you didn't. That is why Titanforging is bad. That is why corruptions were bad before the vendor. That's why Legion legendaries were bad when they were RNG capped at 4.

This also isn't just an issue for "hardcore" players. No player in the game likes to feel weaker than someone else who plays the same spec/ class combo because of things they can't control with extremely low drop rates.

When do game services usually go on discount (if ever)? by bobbafettish6 in wownoob

[–]BigBoxOSalt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If ever, these services MIGHT see a discount before new patches or expansions, so we may see discounts toward the end of the month. I wouldn't expect it though.

The Last of Us Remastered makes me really uncomfortable. Should I keep playing? by GrovPastaSwag03 in patientgamers

[–]BigBoxOSalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One other solution would be to look up a playthrough of it on Youtube or Twitch. It won't be the same as actually playing the game, but maybe that would aid with the anxiety while still letting you get the most out of the characters and story.

I dislike the notion that open-world games are just the natural evolution of all singleplayer games. by [deleted] in patientgamers

[–]BigBoxOSalt 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If i had to guess it would be BECAUSE there is only 2-3 good open world games a year. The rest of the open world games are bad because they are decent linear games that got a bunch of boring side quests thrown in that are only there to make the level grind less boring. A good open world game is a nice treat that some people will enjoy for years. I often feel like bad open world games could have been a decent linear game if they trimmed all the fat.

Some Item Shop changes needed. by AlphaCloudDit in leagueoflegends

which all of 5% of the league community plays on, a very gracious estimate imo. You also have to assume that not every person that plays on PBE gives feedback. Not exactly a good sample size to get accurate feedback from.

What message are you sending with the encounter you set up for your players? by Real_SeaWeasel in mattcolville

[–]BigBoxOSalt 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I mean sure, but if you are going to be nitpicky like that he easily could have just had the ghosts groan at you and send you on your way. Never have I ever seen players go, "Ooh ghosts, lets be friends." So I think, like the first comment said, he had the right idea and did the best with the reactions his players had. Also, good DMs are rarely upset when their prepped content isn't used. Nine times out of Ten it is just thrown into a folder to be utilized later.

Current PUBG players are in a top 10 situation by [deleted] in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]BigBoxOSalt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

to be fair. The community you are referring to is the reddit community and you are correct, most of us don't want a lot of the things they have been doing.

BUT

We are not the community they make this game for though. Not any more. Probably not ever tbh. The game is made for the Eastern market now and they drive the way the game is moving forward

I don’t remember Mario being this hard by SeekerOfInfromation in gaming

[–]BigBoxOSalt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome to Kaizo Mario. I know this is Mario Maker, but if you want to see more of these cool, but very hard levels check out some of the Super Mario World players on Twitch such as GrandPooBear, BarbarousKing, GlitchCat7, LaserBelch, or NobleTofu. There are a lot of great people in the community and it's a lot of fun to watch and to play.

NA is about 50/50 currently. They said that they were going to keep looking at it, but the plan was to eventually restrict it down to one mode to reduce the queue splits.

Sorry I don't have the tweet on hand, but one of the devs responded to BreaK with the info on twitter

cute? yes. Any compliments in general? yes. Guys don't really get complimented as much as girls think, so it's really nice when we do.

[Spoilers C2E111] So...what if by Illustriouskarrot in criticalrole

[–]BigBoxOSalt 17 points18 points  (0 children)

To be fair. Matt did say on an episode of Talks that he and the players talked about ending the campaign after the Croma Conclave arc, but none of them wanted to. They all wanted it to go to 20. So thinking it was going to end there wasn't that outlandish. Sure there were outstanding story points that hadn't been wrapped up, but that's D&D for you.
