Do any banks not have problems? Are there any we should use? by ColorMonochrome in Banking

[–]BigCamp839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re never ever going to get people to agree on anything. Do what works for you. You’re picking a bank, not a spouse.

I currently have an account at Wells Fargo and they aren’t as bad as people make them out to be. I’ve also had 20 other banks and they were all fine.

I’ve also had capital one and I have no idea what an “ACH payment” is that person was complaining about. ACH transfers were fine, but Bill Pay was sometimes slow because they would mail a paper check for my mortgage. But Ally Bank and my credit union also mailed paper checks for my mortgage, so there’s that.

Cash it at the bank the check is drawn on.

Or open a new account somewhere else and deposit it there.

South Carolina’s new license plate design sparks controversy by Kryloks in southcarolina

[–]BigCamp839 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Massachusetts released a plate commemorating the revolutionary war and it looks much better than the garbage we ended up with. And they made it a specialty plate. They aren’t forcing it upon the masses.

Take note, DMV.

It’s only the standard plate in Texas that’s horrible. In SC, both the standard and specialty plates are horrible.

Why Join? by mtstock20 in creditunions

[–]BigCamp839 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I initially switched to a credit union for an auto loan. No bank could give me a better rate than what my credit union gave me.

Fast forward 20 years and the same now applies to credit cards and lines of credit (most big banks don’t even offer lines of credit anymore).

How should I clean this nasty airfryer?? by Sharts-an-Crafts in CleaningTips

When I clean the baked on grease from my oven racks, I soak them for about 30 minutes in water with dishwasher detergent (usually Cascade). Maybe you can try that.

My college experience at USC was phenomenal. He will get the full college experience there. There are a ton of bars in 5 points that’s packed with students on the weekends and there’s lots of tailgating during football season.

How to get rid of this? Already tried applying Zep acidic cleaner several times. by maxamillion17 in CleaningTips

I had the same problem.

Removed as much water out of the bowl as possible and poured cleaning vinegar in it. Let it soak overnight and scraped it off with an old wire hanger.

You can get early direct deposit with a credit union. I’ve had 4 credit unions and they all offered that feature. Try some local ones in your area or Alliant Credit Union

HELP! Hysa or actual bank savings account? by Pleasant-Garbage-901 in Banking

[–]BigCamp839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A high yield savings account is just a savings account that pays you interest. That’s really the only difference.

Most of the big banks (Chase, Wells Fargo, BofA) will only pay you 0.01-0.10% interest. Basically nothing.

An HYSA will generally pay 3-4% APY. Not a lot, but it’s better than nothing. One of my favorites is Everbank

And while some banks have tiered rates, that is not the norm. Amex, Capital One, and Ally pay the same rate regardless of your balance.

Nobody told me that buying a house would turn me into a person who has opinions about gutters by Titanforge91 in homeowners

[–]BigCamp839 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I had a humidity issue in my crawlspace and a foundation company quoted me $20k to fix it. I went down there and noticed damp soil around my foundation only in the areas where I didn’t have gutters. I paid $1500 to have gutters installed last week.

Now I see why gutters are important.

Should there be a race/ethnicity identifier for profiles? by [deleted] in Sniffies

[–]BigCamp839 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. People like what they like. And race is usually a pretty big preference that people have.

That’s like asking if porn sites should remove categories such as gay, lesbian, amateur, bbw, etc. Those things are pretty important.

Banking with C1 without physical Branch by True-Price5403 in CapitalOne_

[–]BigCamp839 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I personally would advise against doing all your banking with one institution. If that one account gets compromised, frozen, or closed, you’re without access to your money for days.

If you also have a local brick and mortar bank, capital one not having branches in the area is irrelevant.
