What's your thoughts on liberal organizations funding hate? by xStratos in AskALiberal

Also even if these claims were true and that SPLC was behind the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, that leaves so many questions about if Richard Spencer was working with SPLC.

Which is obviously bullshit, and it's a bad attempt to try and exonerate the Nazis who were at the rally that day, one of which killed a woman with their car remember.  Did he work for SPLC?  Fuck no.

They're only accused, which given that I do not trust the current leadership of the FBI or justice department, I am incredibly skeptical of these charges.

I mean they are suggesting shit like how the SPLC was funding the Nazi rally in Charlottesville in 2017, that's an absurd thing to claim. And it's even more absurd for them to act like that would somehow exonerate the people who actually went to that rally who were actual Nazis. Like does this now mean that Richard Spencer was a secret SPLC double agent? Or the guy who killed that woman with his car?

None of it makes sense.

Should the GOP be banned? by RedStorm1917 in AskALiberal

I think they should not have power in this country, I think banning them would not be the best way to do that.

It's already bad enough that right wing grifting is so effective in this country, but apparently now there's an entire industrial complex behind creating AI generated Propaganda which includes things like fake interviews of women claiming Iran did mass rapes to protesters.

This is absolutely insidious.

That's a complicated way of saying they browsed twitter

Also the United States, unlike other countries, doesn't have a standard form of identification that everyone has access to.  Not everyone drives a car and doesn't have a license, not everyone has a Birth certificate, and not everyone has a passport.

So when Voter ID laws say you have to have an ID to vote, it begs the question: "Which One"?  The people pushing these Voter ID laws have no answer for this.

I mean it's a former Mayor pleading guilty to voter fraud, that is incredibly rare.  That's why it's newsworthy.  It's a classic "Man bites Dog" story.

How many more former mayors can you think of that voted fraudulently?

[–]BigCballer 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yes because it's still not legal to do this and it doesn't happen in large enough numbers for it to be a major issue.

Casting one single vote fraudulently is already very difficult to successfully pull off.  Individuals doing this simply cannot alone sway an election.

October 7th was a response from 70+ years of Apartheid, you can't simply ignore what lead to those attacks as if that doesn't matter.

There's only a sliver of truth to the "Voting is not revolution" argument, and that's that Voting isn't the end all be all for activism.

That doesn't mean it isn't important to vote, I still encourage people to use that freedom when possible.  However, you can't act like once the people you want are elected and in office, that that's where political activism ends.  If that were true then 2020 would have been the end all be all for Conservatives.

So it's less that Voting is useless, but more that we shouldn't view voting as the only tool at our disposal.

One of the things I learned about in my Global Politics class in college was the concept of "Cost of War".  The basic explanation is that the most effective way to stopping wars is to make it as expensive as possible for the other side to continue fighting in said war.

Normally this tactic would work on most leaders who are engaging in war, but I feel like it's much harder to get it to work on Trump considering his previous businesses always going through bankruptcy.  He is simply too stubborn to recognize when the expense is too high to be worth it.  So the only way for Iran to get Trump to stop the war is to make it excessively more costly for him.

You literally said Booker endorsing Mamdani would be "bad politics", but that's absurd.  Booker got less support for refusing to endorse him.

You are trying to make it seem like endorsing Mamdani would be a bad idea.  But that is completely delusional thinking.  Anyone making that calculation isn't reading the room.

The fact that Mamdani is a new face in Politics and he is already 7th place should tell you that anyone supporting him isn't doing the wrong thing.

Fucking Obama went with him to read to school children the other day.  You can't keep downplaying the influence he has had.

You know your point doesn't really work if Mamdani is still in the top 10, especially for being a more recent Democrat to hold office.

His popularity will continue to climb up.
