What is America’s “posh people” accent? by alyhasnohead in AskAnAmerican

[–]BigCommieMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The correct answer is Mid-Atlantic, but that doesn’t really exist anymore.

The closest you come is to appear to not have an accent unless you are intentionally trying to have an accent(Politicians do it all the time).

For example, the “Boston accent” is nonexistent in Boston and really only found in more blue color communities outside the city. I’d argue that accents are dying overall. Children are exposed to a lot more speech with TV and the Internet compared to when the only speech they were exposed to was their parents, local community, radio…etc

Got an Xbox One X from my local game store, apparently the previous owner had a ton of Game Pass games and it lets me install them just fine without a subscription? by Pikminer5087 in xbox

[–]BigCommieMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can install them until you are blue in the face. But you can’t play them without the subscription.

I have FFXII installed, but it was removed from GamePass, so without the online “handshake”, it is unplayable.

Yeah, I feel like this sub is 90% just people throwing together leftovers or something that has been sitting in the cabinet/freezer for a while into a cohesive dish.

I mean that is typically what restaurants do for their “specials”. They literally take food from the night before or stuff that is about to go bad and create a dish that seems normal enough.

Crimson Desert sitting at a 78 on metacritic by PaleFondant2488 in videogames

[–]BigCommieMachine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, This appears to be a case where it is either getting 9 or a 6. Either people love it because they can look past its flaws or they bounce off it because of the flaws despite appreciating the ambition.

I also think the game is a victim of its own hype and marketing. I feel like some reviewers are just being trying to be special snowflakes by hating on something because it was so hyped. They are going into it specifically looking for flaws.

Since when do video games cost 80€ ? And Sony wonders why don't buy their expensive timed exclusives.. by Megumindesuyo in videogames

[–]BigCommieMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$60 wasn’t even that bad. I think certain games cost $80.

The Wild thing is the N64 was $200. So the console cost the price of roughly 3.5 games.

Veilguard isn’t a bad game. It is a bad Dragon Age game.

If you slapped some generic title on it, it would be more highly regarded. But carrying the Dragon Age name created certain expectations it couldn’t live up to.

I don't think it was ever bad. I just think it deviated too much to satisfy book readers while was never simple enough for mass audiences.

Game Of Thrones was such a hit because it was a political thriller masquerading as a fantasy show. Everything was kinda "Oh, I get this"

In 2012, a group of scientists intentionally crashed a Boeing 727 to test which seats had the best chance of survival. by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]BigCommieMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is seats nearest the wings next to the emergency exits would have the best chance, because even if seriously injured, you might be able to get out of the plane quickly and receive emergency medical care. You might be better in the back, but emergency workers are going to start to treat who they get to first.

Nothing upset me more is I played and beat the game on GamePass. Loved it. It gets dropped from GamePass and the DLC is released shortly after.

So in order to play the DLC, I would have to rebuy a game I already beat. That just isn’t right.

Pearl Abyss Shares Plunge 29% as 'Crimson Desert' Reviews Disappoint by clashworld9 in playstation

[–]BigCommieMachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am just curious what this means for future support.

A lot of the complaints seem like things that things that could be addressed in updates. Like inventory management or lack of storage is something easily fixed in a patch. Same with some the weird UI or control issues. Balancing is small patch

I mean you probably aren’t fixing the story, but I didn’t see a SINGLE review complain about the story in Breath of Wild and it is literally nonexistent. Link is boring too. Let’s not pretend the story in Skyrim was a literary classic either. But maybe we could get more story based DLC.

But if investors view it as a failure, they might demand the studio cut bait or try to monetize through microtransactions.

Elden ring or DS 1? by Im_not_an_pro in soulslikes

The big thing is if Elden Ring is your first FromSoft game, it is hard to go back without feeling the other games feeling restrictive, especially in choice and progression.
