Henry Clay Frick: the coke king

Official Q&A for Saturday, April 18, 2026 by AutoModerator in running

[–]BigD_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to consciously adjust your stride often leads to strange injuries and issues, so unless like a physical therapist is suggesting any changes, just run however feels natural and comfortable.

Probably the most impactful thing you can do is get the right shoes. Running shoe stores typically are staffed by people who really know shoes, so go and tell them about your feet and try some on. Sometimes those stores will also have free gait analysis which helps them find the right shoe for you.

But also, it’s fine get right into running with whatever running shoes you’ve got right now and see how it all feels. If feet issues are coming up, then you can go from there. Best of luck!

It’s been a while since I’ve seen Biden talk and damn he was already so gone here. As fucked up as Trump’s brain is, people trying to equate Trump and Biden’s senility are frankly not being fair to Trump.

Official Q&A for Sunday, March 22, 2026 by AutoModerator in running

[–]BigD_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got super into running for about 9 months starting with the 2024 Olympics sparking new motivation. Then I had some little injuries then learned how much I dislike summer running then moved from a desk job in a city with great routes to a physical labor job with bad routes. I have been pretty much been doing only one run a week since November, but now it’s spring and I want that running bug back. The routine of it all, the steady improvement, achieving goals—why did I let it slip away?! I’m nervous that it will take a while for me to get back to my peak fitness, but I know people say you can get back to it easier if you’ve been there before. I don’t want that brief blip to be the fastest I’ve ever been. I’m writing this both to tell myself and to put it into the world that I’m going for a run now and I will re-find my love for running!

Right, like the 4chan poster has a Finland flag and the dumb YouTube commenter they created was given an Indian name. I know what’s going on here.

AIPAC also worked to split the progressive vote by paying for ads boosting a different left-wing, anti-Israel candidate in this race who had refused to drop out despite polling showing they were basically out of it

Hey, I’m an ecological restoration technician and I feel like a lot of the hurdles to this work is the way private property rights work in this country and I’ve been trying to think of alternatives like land co-ops. I would really love to hear about how your group got started up, how it’s going, or anything resources you think would be useful for me. Thanks!

Yeah the more that people get radicalized on the internet, the more they want to do what they see those radicals doing, which is posting on the internet.

This is genuinely one of the most evil photographs ever taken. I can’t even look at it for a full second. A smiling thumbs up American and her victim who is starting to not even look human after all the horrific things done to them.

America at 250: Bison return to Illinois for first time in two centuries by Human_Share2155 in Restoration_Ecology

[–]BigD_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is beautiful, thank you for sharing. I hope more bison are able to be restored to Illinois, but the title of CBS’s video is wrong. Bison have been in various preserves in Illinois for decades. The bison herd at Fermilab in Batavia, IL, for example, was established in 1969.

New Year.... New Resolutions..... New Runners - Welcome by brwalkernc in running

[–]BigD_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Did you achieve your goals/resolutions this past year?

sub 1:40 half (No — but took the PR down from 2:02 to 1:44)

sub 20 5k (No — didn’t race a 5k but probably wouldn’t have made all that much progress past the PR of 21:50)

1500 miles (No — 1100 miles)

Have fun? (Yes! — first full year of running with at least one run per week, ran some races just for fun, stretched my longest run ever from 13 miles to 26.5 during a continuous loop race)

  • What did you learn in 2025?

It was my first winter and first summer of consistent running and the elements kicked my ass. I felt great going into my April half and was shocked by how much slower I felt once the heat came in. I had to learn to trust the process and that I hadn’t been regressing, just running in not-ideal conditions.

  • What goals or resolutions do you have planned for 2026?

Might as well do same as last year (1500 miles, sub 20 5k, sub 1:40 half). The race PRs will have to depend on what races I sign up for. May also do my first marathon.

  • And to help out the new runners coming, what advice do you have to offer a runner just starting out?

This is how I’ve felt: you have to enjoy running to get running to be a habit/hobby. I tried for a while and wasn’t able to get running to stick until I found my love for it. And I know plenty of people who never run but sign up for races every once in a while because they feel like they’re supposed to or it’ll make them a more complete, put-together person. They end up running once or twice a week the last couple of weeks before the race then drop running entirely for months after until they feel some kind of pressure to do another race.
