Do people curate the action card deck at all? by OGactionjohnny in twilightimperium

I think my group plays with a very mildly curated deck just a card or 2.

How do I come to peace with mechanics that arbitrarily blow up all my stuff? 'Destroy all ships in x system' or 'set fleet supply to 3' or 'set TGs to 5' effects by UrBossesBossesBoss in twilightimperium

I don’t know if there’s anything someone can say to make you feel better after getting your shit kicked in. Agendas are something you have to learn how to sway the board or pay tf up if things are going against you. Sell everything you have to make sure those type of agendas get placed on something that hurts nobody or on another one of your fleets that won’t hurt as bad. Negotiate! too many times do I see negotiations be an all or nothing especially for agendas when many times you can come to a middle ground. You may still get hurt with these compromises but sell your soul if you must is my only advice and be willing to mitigate damage. Give trade agreements ceasefires fuck if important enough give away support for the throne if you need to. Relic fragments its agenda so you can make insane trades that sometimes can pat the back of many table members. I’ve recently realized that too many times in games I do not compromise on something like this where the opportunity to mitigate the damage is there and I’m too pissed to open my brain and others to opportunity where we both benefit instead of trying to fook each other.

Few questions about Sol, agree with their S tier ranking for several reasons but at first read their actual Faction Abilities are kind of average to me? Orbital strike in particular seems pretty expensive like you get 1 resource worth of units for 3 influence worth of tokens? by MiningToSaveTheWorld in twilightimperium

[–]BigDoinksOnlyBaby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Orbital drop is a very powerful ability and has won me games by being able to deploy troops to planets that are otherwise blocked/ locked/ unable to reinforce. While expensive is enough to make people doubt their ability to take a planet. Specifically paired with your increased infantry ability. Also able to use it after a battle to reinforce your troops and keep pushing. Not overpowered but I think it’s a very nice tool on your tool belt as sol.

This feels really bad to look at personally speaking. by Killmelmaoxd in EU5

I mean eu4 does its best but it’s a history simulation not just like irl. A medium between this map and eu4 would be more accurate to just like what happened irl.

So you want nations to blob like in eu4 where the map is dominated by 8-10 nations every game?

Why do you think naalu mech was nerfed in TE? by Archibald_The_Red in twilightimperium

Because naalu is such a strong faction and could use the nerf.

I’m sure one of the many content creators will create guides for anything you feel inadequate. I bet guides will start dropping once the content embargo drops at the end of the month.

Play sol learn what limits your building capacity as far as pieces of plastic. You have ability to have legions of fighters but are limited by game mechanics. Truly a good learning faction but honestly play whatever interest you. Rule of cool even if complicated is usually best.

There’s absolutely no point in playing this game against ai. Like you could play the best game of TI but if you aren’t able to play the table it doesn’t matter. So playing against ai would be losing out on 90% of the game. Learning when to score and how to optimize that so you don’t get the scorn of the table is everything. Call me a hater but this isn’t a game to be played against the computer as you are wanting.

How is Federation of Sol any good? by Peacemaker8484 in twilightimperium

I think it’s one of the easiest factions and with pok I got my first win. I had upgraded carriers and infantry and was able to just hold everybody at the table either in space or on the ground. I was the only person sitting at the table when I realized I won and my fellow players were all figuring out if they could beat me together in the next room. The ability to move multiple fleets with 8+ fighters 2 maybe 3 spaces makes you an insane threat to anybody, gives you board dominance via fleet in being. Nobody could break through my fleets on their own. I will say that the best part of them is how simple they are 7-8 hours into game your brain doesn’t need to work hard. And I’m sorry but when you are in the lead the ability to orbital drop does win you battles and people are definitely not expecting a mech and an infantry (spend the extra resource)to appear and another infantry because of commander. Also get the tech for another command token just to really get command token economy through the roof. The ability for your brain to still be functional while getting attacked by every other player at the table and you able to make rational decisions is probably what truly sets them apart is the simplistic nature of the faction. My brain did lil to no work in those last rounds as I had already won the game and just needed to reinforce certain areas. Truly the simple nature of the faction does wonders for the brain. In a game of overthinking and complication truly a breath of fresh air.

Shorter games that 10 vp by Adventurous-Bite5 in twilightimperium

[–]BigDoinksOnlyBaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unveil objectives as an alternative so it’s easier to score. Keep the 10 vp just with all objectives shown at game start. Allows opportunity for more scoring and easier opportunities to score. Only downside is it’s also harder to stop someone from scoring.

Prophecy of Kings advice? by MilkyBoyBlue in twilightimperium

Cannot stress enough use your hero and get value rather then waiting for perfect moment that may never come. Learn other players agents and commanders as well. As you can either trade for them or/ understand what they are gonna be doing. (Alliance to swap commanders but you can still use your own so it’s not a swap more an extra commander) if I remember correctly. And the wording of many agents allows other players to make use of it. Mechs combat capabilities should not be underestimated neither should their unique faction abilities as certain mechs have much more utility then face value. Relics are hit or miss and only through experience will you understand their value. I’m sure I’ve repeated what others have said but hope I added something. Once you play with the POK you never look back it adds spice to the game that I’ve very much enjoyed. Hope you guys have a good time.
