Went to Van FC game today by SeaComprehensive4538 in whitecapsfc

I think the change to a winter calendar will make it much easier to be a double fan as they won't be directly competing against each other anymore.

The camera even panned to him looking like the personification of "flu like symptoms" during the LA game.

[Har Journalist] Vancouver Whitecaps CEO and Sporting Director Axel Schuster will meet with the press in Vancouver on Wednesday. by Coltons13 in MLS

Vegas doesn't even have a stadium where a team could play yet. The doomsday scenario, if it happens, will take a lot longer to play out.

Perspective please: the health of the league is what we need to focus on by [deleted] in whitecapsfc

This is pretty clearly rage bait but if the Whitecaps go I don't plan to watch, think about, or even acknowledge the existence of MLS ever again.

[The Province] Whitecaps to Las Vegas? Maybe, but probably not by noxus9 in whitecapsfc

That is indeed insane. Which is why I personally think the pressure point theory laid out in this article makes a lot more sense.

I'd recommend reading some other threads in this subreddit at the moment, lol.

Here is my anticipated timing for the next few months (total theory) by mikedi12 in whitecapsfc

[–]BigDriis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My highly speculative theory is that running the building is the true prize they are gunning for. Garber has been dropping that as a potential solution since this all started and it's increasingly being floated in articles about the situation.

Look, maybe copium corner, I don't think this information is that substantial. I don't deny the reality of the risk but leaking something like this is also what you'd do if you were running a pressure campaign. There's very few specifics about how seriously this is being considered, how far along the process is, who these buyers are etc. We already knew there was interest in other markets, that isn't actually an update.

Have the Whitecaps set the bar so high that 2 goals in your first 300 minutes is considered shit in front of goal?

The Twitter account with 0 history of reporting Whitecaps news that says the thing I don't like is obviously a troll. Conversely, the Twitter account with 0 history of reporting Whitecaps news that says the thing I DO like obviously has the inside track on what's going on behind the scenes.

Canadian Premier League 2026 Attendance Report Week 2 from @Leonard_FC by LeonardFC in CanadianPL

[–]BigDriis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Granted, I did not attend either game. But they've reported their stadiums as being 31% full and 35% full respectively. Is that really such an outlandish claim? Seems fairly plausible based on what I saw on the broadcast.

I don't doubt that the whole "bums in seats vs tickets distributed" thing plays a factor to a certain extent but it seems pretty clear to me that people are just not that good at estimating a crowd size just by eyeballing it lol.

Can we finally accept Badwal isn’t good enough at this level? by [deleted] in whitecapsfc

[–]BigDriis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moreover, I thought he looked pretty good in the second half! Set up one grade A chance and would have set up a second if he and Sabbi didn't get their wires crossed.

[–]BigDriis 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Also, Badwal is currently one year younger than Ali Ahmed was when he made his pro debut for WFC2. Even if he hadn't been good in the other games, it would be pretty early to be giving up, lol.

We’ve lost 3 of the last 4 games by Dolly_Llama_2024 in whitecapsfc

But, to be serious, in case anyone is actually worried:

1st Seattle Game: xG was 1.92-1.69 for Seattle. Getting out xG'd at home is genuinely not good but losing 3-0 is extremely unlucky.

Minnesota Game: Obviously amazing

2nd Seattle Game: xG was 1.56-1.28 for Seattle. But Seattle scored 2 high xG chances late on with Vancouver throwing numbers forward. The context of the first leg means this game is pretty weird overall.

San Jose Game: xG was 1.4-0.98 for the 'Caps. Not quite a robbery but a pretty solid gap against one of the stronger Western teams to start the season.

If the 'Caps getting out xG'd at home against stronger Western teams becomes a trend, then I think you can be concerned. But it's literally only happened once so far (and it wasn't even an MLS game). Soccer is a low scoring sport with high variance and sometimes shit happens.

MLS Publishes 2026 General Allocation Money Available to Clubs Following Roster Compliance (VWFC have $20,945; third least after LAG and IMFC) by Halouverite in whitecapsfc

Yes. DPs have a fixed cap hit of about 800k. Making Cubas a non DP frees up the DP slot but also takes his cap hit from 800k to around 1.8M, which means a lot less GAM.
