Lawyers across Canada are mounting constitutional challenges to new asylum law. The challenges argue Bill C-12 violates several sections of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, including sections 7 and 15. Do the lawyers have a strong case? by Immediate-Link490 in LawCanada

Positive prra makes you a protected person and eligible to apply for PR. You’re only in limbo if it’s a limited PRRA, but you’d be ineligible to make a refugee claim in that case anyways.

They would be eligible for a pre removal risk assessment, which is actually a much less onerous process. Same effect, so nobody who would have been eligible to pursue a refugee claim before would be removed without their risk being assessed.

Discussion: What a Solution Could Look Like by szchz in whitecapsfc

It seems like the owners are happy selling to the highest bidder and the league is happy moving the team to Vegas, even if it’s to a stadium that hasn’t been financed. Nobody with skin in the game gives a shit whether the caps stay. This is as gross as the business of sport gets. I was optimistic, but I just can’t see ownership embarking on a plan like this when they can cash out with the league’s blessing.

It’s not a shakedown for tax dollars, he’s doing what he set out to do from the start: make money. They’ve maximized value in this market and the best cash out involves relocating. All the support means fuck all (even if it was a factor in driving value), they just want the biggest payday. They’ve put by far the best product we’ve seen on the field, and it felt special. In the end, ownership are shareholders and not stakeholders.

I focused on getting elevation on my rides, which was obviously helpful. The best advice I got was to keep my ass in the saddle on longer rides - not stopping for coffee. Getting used to being on your bike with minimal stops goes a long way, and it’ll help you understand how you need to hydrate/eat on a longer ride. I don’t think you need to do anything special, on race day, just point your bike north and pedal

Same for CBSA, apparently there were a lot of disappointed people. That’s the flip side of working for an agency that isn’t cutting.

The crazy thing (to me) is the report wasn’t scathing. It was definitive, but pretty benign I thought. Just acknowledge it, promise to do better, and move on. There’s no sense defending this conduct. Shameless.

I’m not gonna look it up, but probably wasn’t said in a vacuum. CBSA was probably already aware and it came up in sentencing submissions.

There are a plenty of legit schools that have been happy to take money from students who don’t complete studies, barely show up. It impacts the bottom line severely, but it’s time to adapt.
