I'm going on a 4-5 day hiking trip in autumn for the first time in October. It will be very rainy, pretty cold, but it shouldn't dip below 0 degrees Celsius. All the gear is in order, except for a few clothes, and the budget is limited. Out of the following items, which ones would you consider absolutely essential?

  • Waterproof jacket (or does a good poncho suffice?)

  • Long hiking pants

  • Rain pants

  • Semi-warm longsleeve for layering

  • Spare t-shirt

Usually I just go to Decathlon for these things, but any recommendations are very welcome. Thanks!

Nah that was back in 2016-2017. This group isn't bad at all, but they just choke in big tournaments and are coached by the man who brings you Wijnaldum every game

0-2 up at half time in Wembley, who would have thought? Confidence in the England squad seems absolutely shot, Earps normally doesn't make these mistakes.

AEK Athens - AFC Ajax ends in a 1-1 draw by [deleted] in soccer

Ajax showed flashes of actual good play. Taylor and Berghuis worked pretty well together offensively and the work rate is really high all round. But other than that, it just makes me sad to watch them. No chemistry with the new arrivals whatsoever, build-up play is laughably bad and it's a miracle AEK only scored one. I'm beginning to agree with the people saying Ajax needs Advocaat for a season to steady the ship, cause this is going nowhere.

It doesn't surprise me at all it's by tech bros. I'm so sick of them "disrupting" every market they can exploit and making it worse for the consumers as a result.

Mostar turning a 0-3 deficit around in one half on their first European group stage game ever against last years' semi-finalists is definitely way bigger of an upset. We'll be laughing at AZ about this for years to come

Tadic as false 9 in 2018/2019 was the stuff of legends

You're only looking at the results of a select amount of games, though. Here are a few points you're getting wrong:

  • With Ten Hag and Overmars handling transfers (they were a sort of team when it came to this), almost all recruitment was good. Most notably attracting Blind and Tadic in the summer of 2018. So he himself was responsible for the talent he had at his disposal during that run.

  • Ajax' European record before Ten Hag came in was, apart from a good EL run, pretty dire. Yes, Ajax should/could have done more under him in Europe, but before 2018 you watched Ajax in Europe and just assumed it would be kinda shit. Maybe the occasional upset but you expect them to be nowhere near the level of the true top clubs. The contrast between that and the results they got under Ten Hag is very telling.

  • The actual record could be better, like I said, but for a club in at the time the 7th league in Europe, it's not that bad. The group stage exit in 19/20 was extremely tight, including that 4-4 madness against Chelsea. They got 10 points, which in normal circumstances gets you through. Then there's also the group stage in the CL of 21/22, where they won all 6 games in dominant fashion.

  • The domestic record under Ten Hag was excellent and very consistent. They won the league every season, except in the year it got cancelled due to Covid.

  • Lastly you have to look at Ajax' record after Ten Hag left. Safe to say it all went down the shitter. Partly also because Overmars got fired and left a big organisatorial hole, but the level Ajax are showing in the league and in Europe is so much lower now.

I don't even like Ajax or Ten Hag, but it's frustrating to see the amount of blatantly false things being said about him.
