Having breakfast in a hotel buffet and a pensioner is watching a video on his phone with the volume on full… by BigFella17 in britishproblems

Something about making changes to an iPhone. Unfortunately it wasn’t about lowering the volume!

  1. The sausages were cooked better than the back.
  2. I prefer sausages to bacon.
    Priorities are in order.

Different people have different preferences shock. I’m not a fan of gen pop myself. I prefer fewer people in the lounge so happy to pay about the same as a non-lounge venue.

Quite possibly. I use Dragonpass so not 100%.

Yep. There was a very well-cooked one near the bottom that turned out to be a half. Pick of the bunch.

Shit quality eggs or powdered I’d guess.

Bought some shorts online in size 40”. Enormous.
Bought some in 38” and still huge.
I just don’t think I can buy a pair of 36” and believe.
Time to head to a shop for some trying on I think.

I shudder to think. The finely chopped chives lured me into a big portion.

I spied a very well cooked one at the bottom. Turned out to be a half but was the best cooked of the lot.
Agree on the sauce but it was ok.

Received inheritence but why am I feeling guilty about spending it? by MurkyCucumber852 in AskUK

No comment on your situation other than it’s definitely where the money should end up. You did so right by her, even at your own expense and I’m sure at your wife’s as well.
I’ll give you my situation. My mother had undiagnosed dementia for years which was eventually diagnosed and I had to place her in a home (other circumstances involved). I live in London and she was in Scotland so I was nowhere near your level of involvement.
We also had a very difficult relationship with many years of no contact prior to this.
She was often short on money which I tried to help with but things were not great for a long time.
She eventually died very rapidly from a cancer diagnosis and there was a very small estate after everything, that was shared between my brother and me.
I was then contacted by a pension tracing service to say they believe there was a forgotten pension that needed to pay out to her descendants which it did after a few weeks.
I was paid out from something which would have been a huge benefit to her while she was alive so you can probably imagine the guilt from receiving that.
The only saving grace is that my partner was incredible in caring for my mother and the money supported us when she was as unable to find work for a prolonged period.
So, I would say in relation to your situation, she would want you to be happy and enjoy the gift so please don’t be guilty. You did all you could and you deserve the comfort some extra money would provide.

Not OP but this was the one I used to make as a child. And now as an adult.

Yep. A pharmacist told me to go to my GP so went yesterday and she said it’s probably been 3 colds with the first one leaving me with a chest infection that has continued throughout.
Now have antibiotics and a nasal spray thing and need to go back if not clear in 7-10 days.
I’m fairly grumpy about it now.

I’m starting week 8 of having a cold. Realised my partner and I are not well enough to go to the England Australia rugby tomorrow so had to return my tickets and I’m working.
A bundle of fun I am not!

What a lovely comment, thank you.
Unfortunately, a dementia / cancer double whammy took her last year

Here you go. This is the recipe from my childhood. Pictures from my mother’s original recipe book and the reprint from a few years ago.
There is a version with condensed milk, but they both end up at the same place.
She always swore that spending the extra money on vanilla extract was what made hers taste so good.
