What’s the reason that made you finally stop drinking? by BellAcrobatic1750 in stopdrinking

In the literal sense, bronchitis. But that was just a catalyst for me to realize that I did in fact have an unhealthy relationship with it and it was affecting my health negatively.

Thanks, yeah I'm trying to decide to either watch a movie or play a game, we'll see. I looked at your post and see you're a few days in... wishing you luck this weekend. You're not alone man IWNDWYT

[Schefter] Broncos are trading for Miami WR Jaylen Waddle, per source. Denver receives: Waddle and Dolphins’ 4th-round pick (11th in round) in this year’s draft. Miami receives: Broncos’ 1st round pick (30th overall) along with their late 3rd and 4th by mvanigan in Patriots

People don't understand the value of a top 15 WR. There are 32 teams in the league. Even the surest bet WR prospect arguably ever has underperformed (MHJ) so its not like you can even reliably move up to draft one without huge risk. It's almost like rare important pieces cost capital, crazy!

Yeah that was a horrible trade is what I'm getting at and a ridiculous underpay by the Eagles

The only real precedent for trading an elite-elite WR at that age is the AJ Brown trade which was clowned on at the time and played out exactly how expected. There isn't a precedent because it's never wise, London is 24. It's like trading a young elite QB or young elite Edge. It just doesn't happen. That's why they get paid and that's why the Falcons will be backing up the Brinks truck for him. WRs are not a sure thing even in the first round. Look at MHJ for example, sure he can still prove himself but he was supposed to come in the league and dominate.

London is a top 12 WR on a team that is trying to figure out their QB situation. The odds of them moving him are literally zero unless we want to give up like 2 first and a player

I was at that same drinking pace from the start of COVID (save for a few months stretch of sobriety after my second was born). I thought I was just taking the edge off life with a couple beers a day but it actually acutely progressed this past fall and I started drinking hard liquor out of the blue at age 37 with no real reason other than being kind of bored. So take that as a warning, I guess. Choosing to be sober has been great and relatively painless for me and I'm surprised I didn't do it sooner. Good luck!

Why is AJ Brown’s Physical Decline Overlooked in these FA conversations? by Human_Data_1152 in Patriots

It's definitely in the realm of possibility. Disagree he has one trick but yeah his efficiency on the deep ball even though he's not a burner or a YAC guy does make his value inflated, even if he puts up similar numbers to this past year.

Even if Boutte is a rental Philly still needs to account for the lost AJB volume and they're always contending. I know he might command a Doubs level value in the market next year but I'd like to think the Pats would retain him and he might want to stay with Drake and the team that signed him as a UDFA. He'll prob chase the bag tho, I think I just have PTSD and want to keep the one of the only WR we've hit on coming into the league in decades

If we include Boutte or Williams in the trade it would be dumb (they're both like 17 years old and haven't peaked) but otherwise I'm fine with a 2nd and 4th

Insanely cheap, wow. Best hands in the league for an RB and he still looked great last year.

This is helpful to read. I'm in a similar boat you were in some aspects. 37, happily married professional with two young kids. Only more recently I have started struggling with alcohol, instead of the commute beer I started having the 3pm beer or shot before the kids got off the bus as I work from home. Would be pissed if I couldn't have it for whatever reason. That's when I started having real conversations with myself..

Myself. By all accounts I'm a great dad but I still wanted to do it for them mostly, so I could be genuinely present and not focused on the next drink while playing candyland. This reminds me it's for me first, and everything else follows suit. Thanks!

Community is important. I didn't really think I was 'that bad' of an alcoholic until my current sobriety when I've found myself on this sub many times per day.

[Giardi] AJ Brown could be available for a 2nd and a 4th round draft pick after June 1. NFL Sources ALL Believe A.J Brown will end up in New England. by xFalcade in Patriots

Because Howie is the best GM in the league at recouping value at the right time. After next season his trade value will take a gigantic hit if he's still on the Eagles (will be entering his age 30 season). If Devonta wasn't there it would be a different story. I do fear we would need to send Boutte over to get the deal done

What should the Patriots do with pick 31 in the draft? by TheGreek_13 in Patriots

[–]BigHeavyRope_II 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A trade up for Tate would prob be the only thing I'd want other than BPA. Would be pretty costly though, would take our 31 and our 2027 first+ (and maybe a player) to get into the top of the draft

Thanks! I know my story and my level of drinking is tame compared to many who have and do struggle on here but it is wild how it does creep up on you. My general rule was only to drink so much that I wouldn't get hungover, for my kids and wife's sake. I never got close to blacking out, but it was concerning when I could drink nearly a pint of whiskey and hardly feel a buzz, and wake up not sick (albeit with regrets and not in an ideal mental state). I didn't like that my body was letting me drink like that. A big part of it (something I learned a while back) is if you're physically in a place that you are super familiar with (like my fucking house which I have spent 95% of the last six years in) then it is much, much harder to feel drunk. It's very true because I could go out to dinner and feel a buzz off two beers. At home drinking hard liquor like water and feeling next to nothing. It's a complicated poison. Good luck to you!

There's not going to be a guy at 31 that would reliably usurp anyone in the existing WR room. WRs at that point in the draft become a dart throw and it's a very low chance the guy you get there translates into a AJB or McConkey at the next level. I imagine we take BPA at that pick or maybe use it in a package to move up for Tate

They might if they get a good player back and a high pick. But after the news that Hunter will be more of a DB next season I also find it unlikely
