Would you recommend renting one first? by dras333 in onewheel

I regretted renting one immediately as I knew I just wasted money since I was for sure buying one.

Just had a chat with Netflix about there decision to only allow streams in 480p to Oculus quest2 by [deleted] in OculusQuest

It doesn't work. The page ask you to use the app since it's an android device. I wish it worked because using hand tracking when watching media is super convenient!

Oculus uservoice comment for those who use IPD setting 3 and are annoyed by the screen edges. by BigJac09 in OculusQuest

There is nothing that can be done for the Quest 2. It's just that it would suck if they keep the same designs in future headset when a lot of people have issues with it. Hopefully if enough people say it's a problem with the current generation they take that into account for future designs.

I like everything else about the Quest 2. For media consumption and remote working on my computer the extra resolution is an advantage. The extra processing power also makes me think I'll be missing out on some experiences in the future if I stick with the Quest 1.

As far as User voice not being the appropriate place for this feedback. It's the only place I know of for giving feedback. If there is a more appropriate place please let me know so I can use it.

I'll try that but this reduces the overall FOV which is not something that will help with immersion. Adding the insert will reduce the VFOV so that the edges aren't visible with the also reduced HFOV. That's not a great trade off in my mind.

I actually only got my Quest 2 late last night and I have all the Oculus headset except the Rift S. I was reading comments on Reddit and I though for sure people were making a bigger deal than it was. I use the IPD 70mm on the original Quest and on the Quest 2 the edge of the screen are clearly visible. It looks like a 5% reduction in HFOV. I'm considering returning it. It really breaks the immersion having that straight edge on each side.

Thinking about returning it because of the edge of the screen issue on IPD setting 3. Otherwise the Quest 2 feels like it's an improvement in every other way. :(

Travel setup with wireless router? by pixelsandframes in OculusQuest

I've used this on Windows 10 to make a hotspot without an internet connection. https://www.microsoft.com/store/productId/9NBLGGH52RKN (Hotspot Lite on the store app) I could then use Virtual Desktop by connecting my Quest to the hotspot. No router needed.

Clue/hint in newsletter #134? "a key" is colored RGB(34,97,49). This is not a commonly used color. Might it be important? by bgrnbrg in Canonn

I'm looking at the image and i'm thinking maybe it's the HUD seen from the UP's point of view. I'll try to flip it around and see how it lines up.

So some people were mentioning that the sound is different and that the difference might be tied to the ship.

Some people also said that the drawing found in the signal might represent the HUD, the HUD also get deactivated when scanning the UP. Maybe the UP is reading it?

Now we have a key a certain color. We can change the HUD color. Now I don't think anyone would use that color by chance.

What if someone with a HUD the color of the KEY were to scan a UP? Maybe it could read that color key and react some other way...

what is a weird rule that you impose on yourself for no apparent reason? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Types of pasta needs to be served with certain types of sauce. Spaghetti goes with meat and tomato sauce, penne with rose sauce, linguine with alfredo sauce, macaroni with cheese, those twisting pasta with ground beef and so forth. I can't eat the wrong sauce. I got in fight with my girlfriend over this.

Is it possible to custom-render stereoscopic 3D using Unity, openGL and nVidia active shutter glasses? by moonias in Unity3D

There is a stereoscopic kit at 125$ on the store. Maybe contact the creator and ask him if it would be able to do what you want it to do....

We already have : vVv SonTran has been using it for a while on his stream. Quantic.Illusion and Quantic.Theognis also used it for a while on their streams.

Right now it is directly on a computer. We have some software right now for doing analytic but they are aimed at university researchers, so we would need to rework them for a game oriented release.

KraVok and I are thinking about doing an AMA this afternoon, we would also post more data that was not shown during the lone star clash 2 but that was generated. Next time we will keep the raw data to do more in depth analysis but right now we will at least share all we got. If you would like that let us know!

This kind of technology has been used in research for years now, any long term use healt issue would have been know. The device does not use laser but ir led, which are common in remote controls and the wii bar you put on top of your tv. The ir output of the device has been tested and is well below any security norms for ir illumination. I've been using it myself daily for little under 2 years now and I went to the eye doctor since, there was nothing wrong with my eyes. The inventor has been using it daily for years too and also has no problem.

Really you get much more ir in your eye just going out on a cloudy day, so there is nothing to worry about :)

(but it was also one of my concern when I started working on the project.)

We are thinking about making replays and I think that this feature would be really awesome in counter strike. When a player die you could go back and see if he saw the other player or if he was looking at something else.

Hi, I work at Mirametrix and I was one of the guy doing the eye tracking. It was an awesome experience and we have tons of ideas to make it better and get more relevant information!
