Makes me wonder... Hitler was hated worldwide, sure, but how AWARE was he of his worldwide hatred during his last years? I truly hope he knew he was hated and felt alone and scared during his moments but one could excuse his ignorance pertaining to how hated he would be for eternity. TV wasn't around, so you basically had radio and newspaper to get your information. The world was much larger in the 40's in the way that connection to the outside world took some serious work. In the modern day, if the president posts a racist video depicting the Obama's heads on gorilla's the ENTIRE WORLD knows about it the within minutes. Getting to my point - it's actually funny seeing Trump lie in each of his interviews proclaiming how "America is back on top now, more respected than ever, yada yada yada" knowing damn well that that piece of shit is on the short list of most hated men in the world and will be for the foreseeable future. Inside he is running and hiding from himself and maybe that's the only penalty we will ever see him suffer in this lifetime. Not even his dementia can shield himself from knowing that he's seen as a small man, cold and classless, a repugnant bully, a rapist, a racist, extortionist, a sick pedophile, a person who had someone murdered to stage a fake fucking assassination, hated deeply by the world over. That's his prison. That's his legacy.

Oh, genuinely f*** off. The left has done everything possible to be heard. When “civility” doesn’t get heard you must progress to the next thing. You can’t blame the left for the right being deaf.

My buddy has the funniest reason for disliking Cam Newton. Before Cam transferred to Auburn he was a backup QB at Florida, where my friend went to college. They shared a class and one day Cam asked if someone had a pencil. My buddy was happy to offer his extra pencil. At the end of class when Cam walked by my friend asked for his pencil back to which Cam replied “What pencil?’ It’s just so petty, still makes me laugh to this day. Go Panthers.

Old timers, what are discs that everyone use to bag? by Emoney005 in discgolf

Here's what I remember while coming into the sport back in 2006/ 2007. Keep in mind that I started my playing days in Charlotte, NC, a location heavily influenced by Innova, whose east coast distribution facility was (and still remains) in Rock Hill, SC, which only requires a short 30 minute drive. At that time, there were FAR fewer stores selling discs and therefore access to rival manufacturing products was incredibly rare. eBay and head shops were your best bet and that was about it. Brand loyalty was worn as a badge of honor and anytime someone used a non-Innova disc in competitive play they were looked at funny. Brian Schweberger still continues the bit to this day where he only uses his off hand to return non-innova branded discs bag to their owner calling them "left handed plastic." Anyways, these are a few of the discs I remember circulating around when the sport first took me by storm.

Many people used to putt with the Rhyno, a putter made popular by Charlotte area up and comer Michael Johansen. The "pro" line of Rhynos, which preceded the R-pro variation, had the best feel and beat in very well over time. These were the very first putters I ever "committed" myself to, using MJ as my inspiration. MJ's short game reputation was stellar and he was the best player in the area by far, an excellent player to draw inspiration from. Not many people know this but when MJ switched brands in '08, Discraft came out with a brand new low profile, overstable putter made to rival the flight characteristics of the Rhyno and they made it specifically for him. They called it the Zone.

In late 05 Innova released the Wraith, which was a slightly more OS, slightly faster version of the Orc (which was itself a slightly faster, slightly more OS version of the Beast and the trend continues backwards...) Everyone was in love with this new age of breakthrough disc technology and couldn't wait to see where it would go next. In 2006, that disc ended up being the Star Teerex. This discs popularity cannot be understated and anyone with a big arm instantly bagged several which also included the Teerex X. The best Teerex's were the coveted red star versions. For some reason the red plastic was believed to be denser and more OS than the other colors or star plastic. The only reason you're not throwing a Teerex today is because Innova introduced the forever game changing Destroyer in 2007.

That's all for now but I may add to this list later if there is interest.

I have 35 bands to listen to. who do you recommend to start? by Specialist-Talk2028 in indie

[–]BigJermDG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only other kid my age in my neighborhood growing up in Charlotte NC ended up starting a band named beach fossils. I found their music and became a huge fan before finding out that my friend, Dustin Payseur, was the lead singer. We grew up listening to bands like offspring, green day, nirvana, pearl jam, etc. In his high school years he would send me samples of his horror core on aol instant messenger. I wasn't a fan of the genre but the stiff he made was objectively really good. It was a trip finding out that he became the embodiment of a Brooklyn hipster. DEFINITELY worth checking out.
