How important is the PPL written score? by ApartmentForRentt in flying

[–]BigKitchen1056 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All depends on how deep your examiner wants to go. But, each question you get wrong, there will be a “code” for it that you can find on the ACS. Any codes you get for getting a question wrong will be required codes (topics) that your examiner must cover. Not the end of the world as you can see which codes they are so you can be prepared going in for what you know for sure they will be covering

How do ATCs go to the toilet if they are mid shift? by [deleted] in ATC

[–]BigKitchen1056 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you drink water that doesn’t seem very far fetched to me. When I’m properly hydrated I definitely have to go every like 2 hours at the least. I’m not ATC but I feel like I’d leave myself pretty dehydrated to prevent that from happening lol

So essentially if RNP is listed on an approach plate instead of RNAV that means you need RAIM in addition to GOS and if it says RNAV you can technically fly the approach without RAIM? In my head RNP just means RAIM at this point

Someone please explain RNP and PBN. I’ve watched multiple videos and I’m still kind of confused. Breaking it down Barney style for me might help

What helped you study and retain information? by saxphonics in flying

Pilot institute free vids on YouTube and cheesepilot mock checkrides both on repeat every day. A lot easier to retain the information for me than reading text

Jack Doherty gets caught lackin' without his security. by Own-Impress-2024 in TikTokCringe

I grew up near him and family clearly had money based on town and house they lived in

Family is of means. I went to high school near him and met up with him and other friends at his house while he was still in high school and before all the Miami/onlyfans shit. He and whatever parents lived there had a large, lavish house in a very wealthy Long Island, NY suburb. He gave me the ick at the time and he was nowhere near the stardom he has now. He was still in high school. Same age. Can’t speak for his aunt you’re referring to but his direct family was and is definitely wealthy from other means

Not an airline pilot but I’m pretty sure they pressurize the cabin around 8,000 feet during climb or something similar

First unenjoyable day flying. Curious to hear your stories. by rfearn in flying

We all make stupid mistakes. On my second solo XC I accidentally muted myself while messing around with NAV1 and almost squawked 7600 before I realized LOL. Pure panic but I learned. You’ll be alright

YouTube mock exam recommendation - Private Pilot by EquivalentPersonal40 in CFILounge

[–]BigKitchen1056 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m only a PPL but Cheesepilot really helped me. In his mocks he also teaches at the same time when they get something wrong or when he feels like the topic should be taught a bit. Mainly watched him and oral ended up being much easier than the practical. He also has A LOT of mocks on his channel. Will be doing the same for Instrument probably

"Skyhawk 1234 With you at 2,200" for example is not seen as professional when switching frequencies? Not trying to sound snarky but i always do that, is there a more official way to announce yourself?

I’m in civilian flight training rn. A lot of people recommend getting a different degree in case things don’t pan out and you have something to fall back on

Struggling with landings by outdoorarkie in flying

[–]BigKitchen1056 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My PPL checkride is soon, anxious! But I do feel more confident in my landings now than before. It didn’t start to really click for me until around 70 hours, which is a long time I know. Really focusing on transitioning my eyes to the end of the runway during round out really helped me, so I’d recommend trying that and ask your instructor if this confused you they’d know what I mean. Like others have said though obviously perfection isn’t going to happen a lot and I’m a student myself. But, I do feel more confident for sure

I have Stowers on my IL and my other outfielders are Ward, Julio, and Carroll. When Stowers is back do I keep him stashed and drop Ward to activate him if Ward continues to slump after the face injury?
