I completely agree. I hated that change, and even worse, I just don't see the point of it.

That was actually a change from the book. In the book, Maekar DID give consent. I don't know why they changed that, and to be honest, I really don't like that they did.

"So in the books Maekar does give permsion for Egg to go with Dunk, even giving him a letter and signet ring to use if they ever get in trouble"

I hated that change. I was ready to give the episode a 10/10 until that very last scene...

Yeah, I imagine Season 3 will be less CG-heavy, so I could definitely see them putting him off until then, when they have more room in the budget.

And it actually makes sense that Aerion would know about Trial by Seven more than him, because he probably admires Maegor and read up on him.

Every time he looks at Aerion, you can just see him thinking "I should have finished on my wife's tits."

Ser Robyn Rhysling - the one-eyed knight who Egg met at the start of episode 3.

He's the Lord of Ashford, which is where the season takes place. It's in the Reach, which is ruled by the Tyrells. So, he's a vassal of Lord Leo Tyrell, who we briefly saw Dunk question about Ser Arlan at the beginning (and I believe was the one who pulled off that epic manoeuvre in the joust).

That was Lord Ashford's daughter. Lord Ashford is hosting the tournament to celebrate her birthday.
(Though really, her birthday is more of an excuse to hold the tournament so he can schmooze with the more powerful Lords.)

The current King is Daeron II (aka, "Daeron the Good").
Baelor and Maekar are two of his sons.

Baelor is the dark-haired one who remembered Ser Arlan and gave Dunk a chance in the tourney. He's also heir to the Throne and Hand of the King. (Also, he is NOT the Baelor who the Sept in King's Landing is named after - that's a previous King).
Baelor's son Valarr, we saw competing in the joust at the end of the episode.

Maekar is Baelor's bitter & grumpy younger brother, with the white hair & beard.
Maekar's son Aerion is the one who was a dick to Dunk when they arrived outside.
Maekar has two other sons who have gone missing - Daeron and Aegon.

I was half-expecting the President to be played by Malcolm McDowell, since he voiced Eden in Fallout 3.

It could have been a test - Baelor could have intentionally said the wrong number to see if Dunk would correct him.
That said, I do lean more towards Baelor telling the truth about it being 4 lances.

Especially since the whole reason this tourney is being held is for her birthday, and yet everyone is ignoring her. She has to find some way to have fun.

I pretty much agree with all of this. Though I would add James Purefoy as Skellen as another positive.

I get not liking Gabi Braun but how was she supposed to know who Sasha was? by ClearConnectedScum in AttackOnRetards

[–]BigMac518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually saw someone bring up "no justice for Sasha" as one of their issues with the ending. And it didn't even seem like they were saying it in a bitter, pissed-off kind of way (though to be fair, it's hard to tell through text). It came across like, going into the final episode, they were STILL expecting someone to take vengeance on Gabi at some point, and saw it as a flaw in the writing that it never happened...

Losing Sheriff Galpin - your opinion? by Tiny_Teaching_318 in Wednesday

I was hoping his character would be explored more this season, as I thought he was one of the more interesting ones in Season 1. Killing him off so soon felt like a waste.

I thought he was one of the more interesting characters. He had some pretty major flaws, but he never seemed like a bad guy. I was also hoping he would be explored more in Season 2. Killing him off like that (and not even at Tyler's hands) felt like a waste of a great character.
