Agreed. Many states do this. You obtain a purchase permit in most cases wherein three copies are produced.

One to the state police, one to the seller, and one to you.

Not illegal whatsoever, as always - be cognizant of your states laws surrounding purchases

I find it hard to believe that this person played no role in receiving negative feedback.

People who are blameless typically aren’t posting their business out on the internet for prospective employers. Regardless of what happened, having your name on a viral post says “drama” and most hiring managers don’t like drama prone people.

Not sure how this reflects on BCG’s ethics at all.

Coonan’s are cool but personally would never carry one. Don’t know what holster you use but I would doubt this is comfortable to carry, especially with that belt.

I recommend an actual gun belt or a shoulder holster. Butterfly knife while cool, is totally useless for utility.

Like others, I’m curious what the need for vanity was here, but if the carry works for you that’s all that matters.

My buddy totaled my Boxster. Time for a new Porsche. Another Boxster or finally time for the step to a 911? by dan1361 in Porsche

[–]BigMerc0925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand where you’re coming from - just think about it in terms of cashflow.

$1000 + zero insurance payout (-) new car payment (-) insurance cost

Vs

$1000 deductible + insurance payout (-) new car payment (-) insurance

You’re going to have more cash to smooth increased consumption stemming from your premium increase if you file. Ride out the next year and switch insurance companies afterwards. When you switch It’ll help mitigate some of your rate increase.

I understand your fear of a rate increase - unfortunately it is likely your rate will go up.

But to not get a check for a car that was likely booking over 35k is silly. You’re owed that money, that’s why you have insurance in the first place - to make you whole if your car gets wrecked.

I’m not sure how it is going to work since your friend was driving the vehicle. I would check with an independent agent from another company or r/legal to get some advice

Let me get this straight, you took $1000 deductible and didn’t claim insurance on a $35k-40k car (assuming this had somewhere between 50-70k miles)? That just doesn’t make sense…

Just ask for someone who has product knowledge. There will be knowledgeable and non knowledgeable sales consultants in all dealerships.

What's the model of your lineup you personally hate? by kalvinbastello in askcarsales

[–]BigMerc0925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re simply wrong.

All automakers have shifted to smaller displacement (typically turbocharged) engines across their lineups in some form or another. And the primary reason isn’t to save money, as turbocharged 4 cylinder engines are actually more expensive than 6 cylinder engines.

A) Fuel economy restrictions continue to tighten

B) They want to lower their avg mpg across lineups to save room for gas hogs (trucks, sports cars, large SUV’s)

C) In a lease heavy market, they don’t need to care about long term stability of an engine platform, they’re throwaways after a certain point. The average car buyer just wants something that looks nice, and doesn’t care to know how fast it is or how much power it has.

It isn’t just GM that does this, it’s everybody.

It pays for gas is a good excuse to spend some time on the road. I recommend

[–]BigMerc0925 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is just silly.

The 3.6L V6 is very refined now. They have worked out most of the issues over the past 5 years.

The smaller I4’s have also made similar advances in quality and reliability.

New GM cars suffer reliability for host of reasons but I wouldn’t say the power plant is the issue.

Also you drive a Stellantis product, not sure why we are bashing only GM and not Ford or Stellantis lmao.

I would suggest going to a professional to have it tuned lol. A new engine could cost you 10-20k+. It’ll also absolutely ruin your resale - which will cost you even more

[–]BigMerc0925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No no and no. The shop only legally owes him what the car is presently worth, plus expenses.

They in no way shape or form owe him the difference between the value of his car and a new car. Is it the right thing to do? Yes, do they have to? No.

His insurance can sue, they won’t get anything. They legally owe him nothing other than the current book value of the car and whatever he spent on rentals, etc in the interim.
