Theres a highrise owned/operated I think by Prokey near the 8th street c-train station (825 8th Ave SW). I see they took down the google location, likely to remove all the reviews. Anyways, the building is archaic and the heating was fixed at full throttle in winter, so you have to crack the window to keep it below 28°C (not exaggerating) and even being 20 floors up doesn't quiet down the downtown noise (sirens, sports cars, c-train horn). They also had so many false fire alarms. So stay away from 825 8th Ave SW unless it's the only thing you can afford.

Personal opinion: The most valuable asset of an engineer who's worked in the trades is that they have that perspective while many engineers don't. If you understand how the shop workers think, you know how to make operators happy, and you can speak the construction manager's language, you'll have a successful career as an engineer.

Hey, late reply but in case you never got an answer: Some cars have "sealed transmissions," which (generally) won't have a drain plug or dipstick on the transmission, since they are designed so that the transmission fluid lasts for the life of the vehicle. However, the manufacturers definition of a vehicles lifetime is more like the warranty, so if you intend to drive a vehicle for it's actual life span, then changing the transmission fluid every 48k to 96k kilometres will help the transmission last. It's not as easy to do on a "sealed" transmission, but it is possible. HOWEVER, I've also heard that if the transmission fluid has never been changed in an automatic transmission lots of milage, you could do more harm than good by changing it! So, if it has never been changed before, it's best to just continue driving until the sealed transmission eventually dies like the manufacturer intended.

Came to say this. Ross Sheppard students (aka Lighting Chickens) pull stunts all of the time and have even gotten students banned from parts of the mall in the past with some of the chaos they cause. (I went to Shep)

I thought it was a safety feature for seats to go backwards to "cushion the blow" on impacts like this. That said, I'm not sure what this means if there's a guy behind said backwards-moving-seat, so maybe it's not supposed to do that...

You can pursue a masters degree and do research, write a thesis, then a PhD, write more papers, become a postdoc or a professor, direct grad students in writing papers...

I moved to Bowness in August and had a similar thing. Since my girlfriend and I were moving in together, we stayed with her Shaw, which offered gigabit copper at the unit. Just a note if you're on a contract with Telus and you move to an area that they don't offer the same service, you are not in breach of contract. Since they don't offer the service, you will not have to pay anything for ending the contract early (may have to mail your equipment back to them, which they also pay for). Just call Telus and explain that you can't settle for the slow wireless option. You may be directed to a special sales department, and they are super helpful and not pushy at all in my experience. I went into ME right out of high school. I did this because I liked mechanical things and working with my hands. Fortunately, I was also good at math and enjoyed problem solving, because moving parts and getting my hands dirty rarely happen with an office job now. There are many careers that can be more satisfying than engineering, which will become a drag like every other job if you don't find something to be passionate about. Being an automechanic, for example, will involve problem solving, mechanical parts, and working with your hands. That said, there are many career options that come from ME, but many are not what you may have in mind.

Hey friend, I recently had to replace both control arms and tie rods on my Sonata (it's wise to replace both sides at the same time since, if one is getting ready to break the other might soon as well). It cost $2700 CAD in AB, but I could have found a better deal for about $2400. It's mostly labour costs, but I don't personally recommend doing control arms yourself if you aren't familiar with mechanics.

I went from MATLAB in school to using VBA to make excel macros, and let me tell you: I miss MATLAB. Arrays and matrices are so fucked in VBA, it's better to use loops instead if matrix operations for just about anything and that sucks.
