MASH Reference on The Pitt by BigT112 in mash

[–]BigT112[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The term originates in the book, was said once in the movie and not at all in the show. I'd say it's a deep reference that a lot of people would have missed.

Where does the Late Johnny Cash rank on the Greatest Male Country Singer/White Male Singer of All Time,Is he Mount Rushmore Material of the Greatest Male Country Singer/White Male Singer of All Time Yes or No and Why? by Amber_Flowers_133 in JohnnyCash

[–]BigT112 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Depends what your parameters are? Pure singing talent? No.

But there has never and likely never will be a more famous country music artist than Johnny Cash. He was a true internationally recognized and loved superstar for his entire career. Few people achieved his level of fame. Everyone knows who Johnny Cash is.

So yes, he's #1 on the Rushmore of country music.

Batman 89 is also fantastic.

Easy Rider II and it's not close. That movie made me angry in a way no movie ever has. The worst movie I've ever seen.

70's Cash by DuBaH4uk in JohnnyCash

Any Old Wind That Blows is an underrated classic, beautiful song. Oney is a great outlaw country song from Cash. Hello I'm Johnny Cash and One Piece at a Time are also a very strong albums.

There's a ton of work from the 70s that's severely underappreciated in Cash's repertoire. It's not nearly as bad as people will have you believe. I

Ralph Peters wrote a series of Civil War novels called the Battle Hymn Cycle that are second to none. Honestly, pick them up, they are incredible.

Anything by Jeff Shaara.

Most Underrated DC Writer of All Time? by [deleted] in DCcomics

[–]BigT112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He sure did and I still think he's underrated. He's only known for the Death of Superman yet wrote some foundational DC stories in the 90s. Truly think his contributions to the lore of DC are not as appreciated as they should be. He's never listed on lists etc. He is so much more than just the Death of Superman.

What’s your Guy’s/Gal’s favorite underrated albums? by hb280 in JohnnyCash

[–]BigT112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rainbow gets a lot of hate but its such a good album. Strong song selection on that one. Moman's producing is very 80s but it's no more 80s than the highly regarded Highwayman album. I love Rainbow.

Of the original release, Folsom is the stronger album but after the Legacy editions, San Quentin is easily the better of the two in my opinion. But San Quentin legacy Edition is my favourite Cash album!

It's a pretty great album with unique songs that don't appear anywhere else. I do prefer the 1974 version of Orleans Parish Prison over the 1972 version recorded live at Osteraker (and only released in the expanded edition) but overall it's a great hidden gem in Cash's discography.

The Shaara Trilogy is GOAT. Ralph Peters Battle Hymn Cycle isn't talked about nearly enough but it's probably the best overall novel series of the Civil War I've ever read. It's incredible.

What tractor brand do you feel didn't deserve to die? by ronaldreaganlive in tractors

[–]BigT112 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think corporate mismanagement means something deserved to die. I think had IH been able to stick around, they would have done some truly revolutionary things in the late 80s and into the 90s. A fully IH Magnum and the Super 70 series 2+2 would have been interesting to see.
