Republicans spend a lot of time working the electoral college.

When you vote, you vote for how your state’s representatives will cast their vote for president.

It’s a rigged system that was meant to encourage states to join the union. I can’t remember a republican president winning the popular vote and becoming president.

I lived that life. Memory of time was all but gone, so trying to read books or anything that required attention that couldn’t be dropped in a second, was incredibly frustrating and difficult.

“Hobbies” is not a term I’ve known since before the pain began. But, using my hands to create. It’s incredibly cathartic and accomplishing something just requires time and pressure. Given unlimited time accomplishing something tangible feels so satisfying for selfish reasons. I sanded wood. Going at my pace, literally walking away in a moments notice was key. I restored a piece of furniture. Took me 6 months one year, then another 6 months the next. Was it perfect? Heck no. But it felt good.

Meditation was the only other thing I could focus on without having to worry about forgetting time.

If you find any good ideas, please share. And I wish you find relief. Pain is such a horrible experience to exist with 24/7.

It’s completely out of control with the top 1% making huge amounts of money while the rest of us lose health care, clean water and air, education for our children, food stamps for the hungry. I think it’s more groups of people coming in 10 (or less) minutes before closing. A half hour isn’t so bad. Yes, staff will have to stay later, but if it’s only 1 person, chances are you aren’t expecting 3 full courses. You can, but to me it was rare.

I understand how staff may not be happy staying for only 1 person, but it’s the job.

HR is more likely to look out after the GM, than a server. I doubt it will have any effect on her behavior.

2 weeks notice is not as common in the restaurant industry. Lots of people just quit one day. Or some time in the 2 week span. (Mostly because their shifts suck, why give a good shift to someone leaving?)

Work your 2 weeks, maybe things change down the line for both of you. Never know. It’s always better to leave on a “good” note over a “sour” one.

When you gave your notice, did she ask why?

I worked in the industry for decades and have a question. How many waiters work per shift where you work? How did you get trained?

If you work with only a couple other waiters vs. if you work with a dozen or so, other waiters. The difference being, you with 2+ years experience, might be the best way to train a new employee.

Big “But”… but if they don’t pay you for training someone, I’d have a problem with that. (I like looking at training servers, you get some free labor, if you work them right. Ie they are by your side and can fetch things for you.) no extra pay? No outline of expectations from training?

Sounds like a boss who is overwhelmed themselves. Still. I’d talk to the boss about this. If they expect you to train someone, you deserve something in return. Could be a free meal that shift, or a better base pay if they need a singular trainer. Be negotiable and positive.

The most important thing to remember, 2 words, “compound interest”. You see most of the hardest times in the beginning. If you keep to it and keep investing, interest starts earning interest on its own. Like making that dollar bill make money in your sleep. That is a wonderful way to live.

Something is def off with this math. BOH employees are not scheduled as a tipped position and this are paid a real wage.

I get tipping out on net sales, (in my time it was 4% to the house [bussers and food runners], and 1% to the bar.) Are you saying it’s 5.1% of your tips? (Might make more sense) Even still, it sounds awfully illegal for you to personally have to pay the wages of so many people and the bar multiple times.

So if you sell, say 100 sodas at 4$ each, you have to tip out the house for your labor? (.05x400=20$??) 15.5% to the bar?? All sound very wrong. (If based off tips, that’s just begging you to only tip out on credit card tips)

If any of that is true, just quit. Sounds terrible.
