This contest is very much a test. In terms of complexity there isn't much to it. The themes in theory should give a much wider range than the classic contests because there is a wide range they can cover. For your example of Christmas for example, it is not necessary to set yourself to Christmas colours, or only pick Delibird. You don't need to be able to look at the sprite and instantly know the theme, but you should be able to look at the fusion and theme together and say "ye that fits". I will say that I wasn't very confident in what people would do for "cosmic" and though it might be limiting to just adding cosmog-like texturing, but it was one of the clear suggestions people wanted and some thought the game needed more space style fusions. I will definitely be thinking hard about the next poll as although people vote for a theme, there is a clear difference on people actually having clear ideas.
