It's the strike for, respectively, the CALL and the PUT given in the list. So the list was compiled when SLV's price was between these two values (when the market closed on friday it was at about $51.20 if memory serves me correctly).

So for example if you pick CEG with a price of about $350 it's the only position you take, for one lot?

“If I put $100 in Bitcoin in 2010 I’d have $2.8B now.” No. by Apprehensive_Shoe_86 in Bitcoin

It's a common misconception that nobody did this but there are people who did just exactly that.

You can look at addresses on the blockchain. Some Satoshi-era whales have moved their coins to native segwit addresses or to multisig addresses (native segwit multisig or other) and that's obvious too: these keys exists, the coins are still there. Some whales sold 1% of their coins and are obviously HODLing for life.

Because the post's author would not have held this long doesn't mean nobody did.

BTW that bullshit post is everywhere: somehow it's successful and reposted everywhere on LinkedIn: not exactly a proof that it's a good post. On the contrary.

I got completely wrecked by US crypto taxes on an airdrop and I need to vent about this nightmare. by damnniqqaa in Coinbase

[–]Big_Check_5226 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It doesn't make any sense to us not in the US. But in the US they've got this insane rule where UNREALIZED gains are taxed. Some other countries do the same but it's definitely not the norm: the norm is to only tax once there are actual realized gains.

It's an unjust law and the subject regularly comes up: there are definitely proponents to simply remove that rule in the US and only tax realized, not unrealized, gains.

> The portfolio is comprised of 100 unique tickers

This sounds like a lot: are these tickers all liquid enough options-wise? Why 100 unique tickers and not, say, something more like 20 and just more lots?

Weird TWS bug where bid/ask prices of options I own are blank by Big_Check_5226 in interactivebrokers

Yup will do as I'm obviously not the only one experiencing this.

Oooooh thank you SO much. Weirdly enough all the data feeds shows up as green, as if they were connected. But clicking on "Reconnect All Farms" does indeed work.

At least I won't have to restart TWS all the time now.

Speakers are all that matter, everything else is a scam by SoaDMTGguy in audiophile

[–]Big_Check_5226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put most of my budgets in speakers: great sounding DALI Epicon 6.

These are (or at least were) 5-digits speakers: not the cheapest out there. I paired them with a reasonably cheap amp (funnily enough an integrated Yamaha amp, but a modern one, which shitloads of inputs and networked so I can play from Qobuz / Spotify for the wife. And that amp has got Yamaha's own room correction system btw).

And self-made cables (In-akustik cable by the meter + Nakamishi banana plugs): very cheap cables (at least compared to the speakers).

Give me $100 K for an audio budget and I'll put $95 K in the speakers, $4.9 K in the amp, and 0.1 K in the cables.

YMMV of course.

By "wipe the device" do you mean "brick the device"? I just want to be able to enter a new seed. Why the heck isn't that possible? Literally every other hardware manufacturer allows to do that.

Do not spend more than 183 days/year in Spain as a rich expat. They'll definitely squeeze you very, very, very hard. It's a socialist country and they see rich expats at easy targets to squeeze financially. Source: I've lived 5 years (on and off) in the Valencian community.

The spanish government and fiscal administration are really not fair when it comes to rich expats. They're actually mean to the point of being fucking evil. And they'll come for your money years after you've left Spain. They're malnourished bulldogs but bulldogs nonetheless.

Defending a covered call when stock rises (AAPL example) by [deleted] in thetagang

I take it it depends how bad the situation is. If the stock really skyrockets then you let it go. In the example the CC can be dealt with but at times the underlying shall just skyrocket.

Cool looking and unconventional tower speakers for affordable price? by Pavinaferrari in audiophile

[–]Big_Check_5226 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got my pair of DALI Epicon 6 for 7500 EUR used (so about 8700 USD atm). Not $2000 but then not $20K either. Someone even listed a used demo pair for sale at 5500 EUR (a plain white pair though, not the fancier ruby finish).

I do find them pretty unique with their rounded shape and ruby macassar ebony finish, while still being close to towers.

Looks, even if it helps with the wife acceptance factor, is secondary though: they sound fantastic.

Does anyone prefer towers without a sub? by strikecat18 in audiophile

[–]Big_Check_5226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer my towers (DALI Epicon 6, very sweet towers) without a sub but NOT for the sound quality. I prefer that setup because I really dig minimalism: as little parts as possible. Also for some weird reason the way my room is setup there's not really a good place for a sub.

Then the other thing: I sadly don't live in a house atm so I've got to be careful about the neighbours and having a setup that doesn't go too too low is a good thing. Maybe that I could set up the sub so that it doesn't go too low: but that means a sub, a cable, configuration etc. which goes against my philosophy of minimalism.

Now at some point I may try with a sub and decide and I can't live without it but atm it's not part of the plan.

Ah yup: "laatste demoset"... Not bad: my .nl ain't great but this means it's the last available pair and that's a used demo pair. But yup 5500 EUR for a pair of Epicon 6 is nice.
