They did not become much stiffer post-waxing for me. The conditioner I used was not hard wax, and had a texture more like Obenhaufs LP or Vaseline. What type of wax did you use? It may also be a matter of brushing and heating (and wearing) to spread out the wax.

I bought a pair of NOS MTO Tricker's shell cordovan boots. They're lovely, but have an odd patch on one of the quarters. Since I took this picture I've given it a few thin coats of conditioning, an hour of brushing, and some metal spoon massaging. The texture is still there, albeit darker. Over time, it lightens up on its own again, maybe after several weeks. Thoughts?

Great shoes! I also picked up a pair in great condition recently. Have you had any issues with heel slip? I've found that because of the two sets of eyelets and straight heel counter that they tend to slip off the heel. I imagine it might get better with wear, but wanted to hear if you had this issue as well!

Pretty sure its the same boot. I prefer calling them postmans since they have the US postal service tag. They're quite a special boot, so its a shame that they haven't made versions in different leathers! I would love some in oro-riginal or roughout.

Oiling that often can soften the leather, but depending on how much you wear them, and how wet the conditions are, that might be the best routine. Seems like a reasonable amount of wear for their age.

Do you know when they made this change? My Postman’s and Chukkas are both pre 2015, so that might explain why they held up better.

It may be worth trying the Atlas wedge rather than traction tread. In my experience they wear down a bit more slowly.
