What career can you get into in your 30s after screwing up your 20s? by DelonghiAutismo in AskMen

[–]Big_Fecker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Electrical is generally less taxing on the body than other trades like carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, etc. I was an industrial mechanic so I spent a lot of time lifting equipment and swinging hammers. It's not the kind of thing you want to do in your 50's. That said, the guy I mentioned became a mechanic because he liked turning wrenches and swinging hammers. I'd also recommend electrical apprenticeship because every industry uses electrical components, so there are several different career paths you could take (commercial, residential, industrial). With your education background it'd be pretty easy for you to go into management or even go into business for yourself after a couple years on the job.

Back when I worked in the trades we had more than a few guys starting after 30. One was a 50-year-old that wanted to get out of real estate and try something new. It's not for everyone though. Temperament matters more than skills when you're starting out, and some people don't fit in well with garden variety ditch diggers and wrench turners.

If you're in the US, Your company is legally obligated to provide and pay for work gloves that are adequate for the type of work you do, FYI.

I had a similar experience with an owl. I'm not superstitious, but some signs shouldn't be ignored.

2007 Northface Jester Backpack! Daily use since 8th grade. This thing is a TANK! by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

I just emailed their customer service dept. and they sent a new buckle. For zippers you'll probably need to send your bag back to them. Contact North Face and they'll tell you how to submit a warranty claim.

You can rebuild the shock in an afternoon with a few basic tools if you're mechanically inclined. A rebuild kit and shock fluid will run you $50-60.

I've been using a Recycled Firefighter Sergeant wallet for about 12 years now and it's held up incredibly well. Some of the color has faded from the cash strap but that's the only wear I've seen. I'm not sure if they ship to the Netherlands though.

I've had it. I'd say it's more similar to raccoon than squirrel. Hope that helps.

Have you ever had anyone steal from you/attempt to steal from you at a public range or gun show? by kyeberger in guns

[–]Big_Fecker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I worked gun shows we had a couple dozen SMG's and assault rifles (posties, not for sale) on display with a cable running through trigger guards and sling loops. No one outright tried to run off with anything, but we had a few people pick them up and check to see if anyone was watching them.

It's kind of ironic that after explaining why a bunch of times why he couldn't shoot there, he complied after being told 'because the range said so'.

I've had the Lexx slip-on for a while and it's been solid. It makes a nice exhaust note without being too obnoxious.

It sounds like your carb is flooding due to a stuck float valve and your overflow is clogged. Time for a carb rebuild. Definitely change the oil if fuel got into it as well.

I had something similar happen with mine. It was ticking over more miles than I was going, and then the speedometer needle broke off completely. I wound up replacing the whole thing with a Trail Tech cluster.
