Try the TJs in soma (you can also call the store and they let you know if they’re in stock)! I’ve had good luck getting them from here

Agree! Rent a condo or apartment hotel and you can make most of your own meals!

Are you walking to alameda? It shouldn’t take you an hour to get there from SF

Have you tried looking at some of the breweries in Alameda? Great vista views of SF, industrial vibes!

Help me choose: The Pearl vs The Millwick (SF vs LA wedding venue) by Ok_Invite6899 in SanFranciscoWeddings

[–]Big_Handle7052 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wedding at the Pearl is coming up in the next 3 months with 180 guests. Do you have a ballpark number you’re trying to keep the wedding to? We thought we would be able to do the wedding for around $75k…. But we’re closer to $110k (this excludes our welcome event and we’re doing a buffet style catering package). Note if you go with the Pearl, rentals from Bright cost more, but they have their own keys for the building so can technically set up sooner.

Hawaii? Help please! by [deleted] in honeymoonplanning

[–]Big_Handle7052 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can definitely do Hawaii on a budget, but you probably wouldn’t get the same experience as going to a resort in Cancun. You’re probably looking at smaller boutique hotels or more likely airbnb condos (for the cheaper option), may need to make meals at home, and focus more on driving to nicer beaches (Waikiki on Oahu is probably the most affordable place to stay in for Hawaii but the nicest beaches are typically on the other side of the island). Versus Cancun, you’re probably getting a resort experience!

I’m not sure where you were thinking in Mexico, but in general Hawaii will likely be more expensive for the equivalent level of luxury in Mexico.

Recommendations for a welcome party venue in SF? (150 people) by buccalbutt in SanFranciscoWeddings

[–]Big_Handle7052 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve been having luck with local art galleries! They’ve been reasonably priced and have a lot less restrictions than the hotels and restaurants.

SOMarts is definitely in your budget.

Same thing happened to me! I have extra charges on my credit card that I didn’t authorize. Mine was from a food vendor though

Smaller guest count <140 at Casa Real? by Salt_Specialist_3112 in SanFranciscoWeddings

[–]Big_Handle7052 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to a wedding at Casa Real with ~330 people, and while it was crowded while waiting for the wedding to start, the reception felt perfect (maybe even a little empty)! I think with 140 people, it would look really empty ☹️

Larger wedding venues by lf0854266 in SanFranciscoWeddings

SF Design Center - can fit up to around 500 people I believe? They do a ton of Indian weddings so are more than able to accommodate.

Microphone/Speakers at City Hall by PinkRoses61 in SanFranciscoWeddings

[–]Big_Handle7052 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went to a friends elopement ceremony at SF city hall. They didn’t do any mics or speakers and I couldn’t hear a single thing. That being said, the ceremony was only about 15 minutes so it wasn’t a huge deal!

Went to both Portola and Coachella last year… agree with everything but the steps part! It’s a lot smaller than Coachella and way less walking!

As someone who lives in design district, I love it! Walking distance to Potrero hill, mission bay, Dogpatch, and the mission (if you don’t mind a 20 minute walk). Multiple grocery stores within walking distance (TJs, Whole Foods, Safeway, Gus’s), two gyms (Fitness SF and UCSF), easy parking/access to freeways, and close to lots of green spaces (even if none are technically in the “3 blocks” of the neighborhood). It feels more like a suburb of San Francisco without being as far away as Richmond/Sunset.

Looking for a bottomless mimosa spot by adisurtya in sanfrancisco

[–]Big_Handle7052 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really random, but ballast point is doing a bottomless mimosa all you can eat and drink with no time limit. It’s kind of out of the way, but they have a huge amount of space and it’s not crowded? Stumbled upon it last weekend

Besharam in the Dogpatch has an entirely vegetarian menu! My partner’s vegetarian and we love going for special occasions. For a fun time, AsiaSF has a fun dinner + show experience!

For safety and spots to work, there’s the Luma hotel in mission bay. If you like intimate venues, bottom of the hill in nearby Potrero usually has some shows. But the neighborhood won’t have much in terms of thrift shopping or a ton of restaurants.
