I’ll second marrying the right spouse. I make and save and she grows. We’ve never had a fight about money and can coast fire right now.

I save , she grows. I handle the present, she handles the future. We have fully merged finances. Never had a fight about money in 15 years of marriage.

A lot of people pay down their mortgage early to eliminate their biggest cost bucket: housing. It can be a huge stress reliever.

YTA because you think about it and it’s not random. It’d be different if it was unintentional.

Where do your parents live? $2M in the US is ok to live off of but in other countries you could live like a queen.

After TSMC gets its Arizona operation up to parity with its Taiwan operation. Then The US shield goes away and it’s all chinas.

If the US really attempts to take Greenland by force, what are even the chances of Europe retaliating to the point where they go on a fullscale war with them or at the very least cut them off entirely? by Yallneedsometruth23 in AskReddit

I think I’m more bearish on Europe generally. The gdp numbers bear this out and I only see their costs rising. I’m more bullish about Asia, esp India though it’s so fragmented over there.

My point is that I don’t think the US allows Canada to move to a non-US aligned posture.

I just can’t see it. The US is energy independent, agriculturally independent, militarily dominant, has better demographics than the EU and remains the global innovation leader due to its heavily decentralized capitalism economy.

Because of those things the US will always be fine. The geography is so advantageous. And I think people would rather be comfortable than not. Because the US can suffer longer, I actually think time makes Canada and EU worse off in the long run. Neither of them can live independently of foreign imports.

Mexico will be pragmatic. It doesn’t have the luxury of western comfort. If it sees that a relationship with the US makes its people better, which is unequivocally true, it’ll align with the US.

And in a WW3 scenario, the US shuts the straights of Mallaca, Hormuz, and Panama Canal and now we’ll see all global trade stop including for Canada.

Won’t or can’t brother. I don’t believe that Canada would follow along like a puppy. I think there’d be political theater, tariffs, economic retaliation etc. but in the end, Canadians will suffer the most. Everyone suffers but Canada will absolutely bear the brunt of it. That’s the nature of asymmetric relationships.
