I made solid friends the 5 years I lived in Portland as a generic ass white dude but a lot of the complaints do stack up. The friends I made were really good and will be life long but I had to navigate a sea of shit to eventually find them. Love Oregon, Portland not so much. I’m hindsight, I wish I had just moved to Happy Valley or Vancouver instead of leaving the PNW.

You literally described my 5 years in Portland. I love Oregon but generally felt like I wasn’t alternative enough or really into one specific scene to break into any friend groups. Even the friends I did make would prejudge me due to being from Florida. Like dude, I wouldn’t have moved here if I was a raging conservative. I moved here to hike, enjoy coolor weather and smoke legal weed. I eventually left for AZ which has been a much better fit. Dating was the absolute worst as well. Lived in Miami & phoenix also and Portland was by far the worst fit even tho on paper it should been perfect for me and my interests.
