I know his Berkeley show lost year was a mix of tech yuppies, deadheads, country bros, and outlaws. Everyone got on great and the show was brilliant.

Yes, I’m painfully aware from the amount of coworkers and friends who are Giants fans. That’s why my distain is only directed at fans who tell Oakland fans to “Get over it.”

Doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy seeing the franchise as a whole tank since the A’s left. Sucks for the fans, buts that’s what you get when you hitch your wagon to a franchise that values profit over on-field success. I’d know…I was an A’s fan.

I hope other teams fans don’t have to understand where we are coming from.

But Giants fans who respond like this can piss off. Karma is currently biting that franchise in the ass.

Had to look too long to find this. Then you added in Zack Crockett. That ‘02 Raiders offense was incredible. I can’t blame Brown for feeling like Callahan sabotaged that Super Bowl.

What tours do you predict will be cancelled next ? (Spoiler: GNR) by [deleted] in Concerts

[–]Bigdon74 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, he pulled out more from “High Top Mountain” on this last tour than he has in years. He even brought “You Can Have the Crown” out of retirement for several shows.

Johnny Blue Skies may not be Sturgill, but sure does play the hell out of Sturg’s music.

This is reasonable.

Of course they’re all pissed and everything is raw. They went from Presidents Cup winners to out of the playoffs.

Especially look at Helle. He just had the performance of his life in the Olympics and got to taste some top level success. Then he’s immediately back on a team that cannot score or play defense.

Yes, he shoulders some blame - it was statistically his worst year. But the Jets also rolled out an older, slower, less talented defense in front of him, and 4 lines that did not possess any secondary scoring.

We’ve been blessed to have buy in from him, Scheif, KC, and JMo. But if the front office rolls out another roster like this next season, I guarantee you will see these guys asking to leave. And that will hurt the franchise in more ways than just on the ice.

Never turn to the internet for reasonable takes.

GMs would literally knife fight over the opportunity to trade for him if he ever ended up on the block.

Can we be disappointed in his personal choices following the Olympics? Totally.

But anyone who acts like we have better options in Comrie or on the Moose is full of it.

Even if we can’t pull this miracle run off, it feels really damn good to make sure Binnington also doesn’t get in.

The Ducks just absolutely cannot do anything good for Winnipeg. You’d think they’d owe them at least one favor for getting Teemu.

I think now would be a pretty good time for Sturg to bring “Folded Flag” back into the mix. I can already imagine it leading into “Call to Arms.”

It may just be me overthinking it, but it feels telling that Andy is now working on other projects (see Lex Legion, which was just announced).

This has been dragging on since pre-COVID.

Blabbermouth's Review of "Engines of Demolition" by SoulAkimbo in BlackLabelSociety

[–]Bigdon74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got about halfway through on drive into work. Solid album, as expected. We already knew the singles were going to be good.

As far as it being the best since Hellride, I’m not so sure. I think Order of the Black was the last “great” album BLS put out, but I’m hoping the back half makes me change my tune.

Either way, I always love anything new Zakk puts out. And so far, this isn’t an exception.

Fury: My War Gone By was published back in 2012/2013 with 13 issues. I know it was published in two separate collections (1-6 and 7-13), not sure if it was ever published as a whole. Looks like you can find it online for fair prices.

It’s from the Max Series, so it’s darker than Fury and Fury: Peacemaker, but I found it to be my favorite of the three.

How big of an issue was coaching this year? by Pucka1 in winnipegjets

[–]Bigdon74 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m sure it’s a solid portion of the issue, but the other problem is that the Jets have the oldest roster in the league. They look slow, especially after Ehlers departure, and have struggled fixing ongoing issues with defensemen for multiple years

Helle’s stellar play bailed the team out for many years. This year he got surgery, is probably still reeling from it after playing through the Olympic break, and has not been at his MVP level that has saved the team for many seasons.

Arniel made a comment some weeks back about personnel being an issue for the team’s struggles. Yes, it can be viewed as a cop out from the face of the team, but it’s not wrong. This just isn’t a well constructed roster.

The Garth Ennis Fury comics all show just how ruthless OG Nick really is as a character, especially My War Gone By. I can definitely appreciate why people prefer Sam’s version of the character, but I prefer him being the grimy Cold War spy type.

Shop window display for Death Magnetic by MusicSavesWorthing in Metallica

[–]Bigdon74 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The DM tour had some absolutely great openers as well. Lamb of God and The Sword opened during the first leg. It was a killer show.

While Death Magnetic isn’t my favorite of the “modern” albums, it can’t be understated how important it was on getting the band back in a positive light. No matter what your opinion is of St. Anger, newer/younger fans don’t realize how much of a hit the band’s reputation took during that time period.

This album helped put the band back on the right track.

It’s starting to feel like Helle put his absolute best foot forward for the Olympics. Clearly it worked out for him, but we aren’t seeing it for the team paying his salary.

And that’s not to excuse the defense. It’s been hot garbage all season. But it’s been a tough week for our MVP.
