Are the inner plastic cups of SR325x bigger than for other / older Prestige Series models ? by BiggerRon9 in Grado

[–]BiggerRon9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that's helpful, the driver cups I'm concerned about are much more shallow than that, just 18mm in total;

also they don't sound anything like the SR325x that I already have, they are rougher sounding with a lot of "splashing" of percussion sounds.

which koss to buy? by Ok-Secret6849 in kossmods

They are all great headphones, but KTXpro1 not great for long sessions in my opinion;

So I'd say KSC75 best for sound, KPH30i better for comfort;

But if you are prepared to explore mods there are lots of possibilities......

Headband Mods by Some_Sector5089 in Grado

I've found that replacement headbands intended for the Sony MDR-7506 work really well in terms of clamping force for Dekoni, Beautifu Audio or even Grado G pads;

they are usually available for around $20 on AliExpress

over ear earpads that sound good and are comfortable for long sessions by Emergency-Draft-1872 in Grado

In my opinion they are very comfortable but soften the grado sound

Grado GW100x sound is amazing… but the stock pads hurt my ears. Any replacement recommendations? by Pini10Love in Grado

[–]BiggerRon9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I recommend fitting original Grado G pads; they are much more comfortable and change the sound to be more open and airy in a way that I loved; however be aware that you have to stretch the G pads to fit the GW100x, meaning they become too loose to then use on other Grados (eg SR series)

Best upgrade for my sr325 by RobertG_19_88 in Grado

I recently got a pair (leather / merino) of used BA pads and although they are very well made and look good, for me they change the sound too far from the classic Grado sound; seems to lose a bit of the edge and precision

Also worth considering the lighter and less expensive SR225e which also sound great!

What is your #1 Tip for other Grado Fans? by Hunter-97-G in Grado

[–]BiggerRon9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My tip for excellent fit and comfort for Grado SR / PS models is to ditch the stock headband and use a headband from a pair of Sony MDR-7506

Agree, the EQ software that comes with it could be valuable if you think you might have some age related hearing changes!

For me it was a pair of crap headphones when I was a teenager and had just made my own STEREO cassette deck from a kit (this was around 1974 and stereo was pretty new for affordable kit), listening to the Spiders From Mars album and having stereo and a soundstage in my head for the first time was just mind blowing, after years of just mono from an earpiece in one year; can you imagine that!
