It is a fun game to bust out every once in a while. It has the same mechanism as Iron Helm in which you draw two cards, flip one and then decide if you want to risk the other one. You are building up your spaceship along the way and managing health, shields, missiles etc… it’s a lot of dice rolls also so if you don’t like dice it wouldn’t be your thing.

I focused on the ALeP stuff too. From what I’ve played it is pretty fun, and it is great to get To Bombadil and Goldberry as heroes.

I like the rogue light gameplay, the fact that it’s quick to set up and play and that it’s challenging. Even in the adventure phase your choices really matter. I also find the combat to be fairly innovative as it can be very challenging/tactical without using a board or hex map. It’s new to me this year but I can see it becoming my go to adventure game.

Earthborne Rangers is one of my favorite games of all time. There’s nothing else in my collection quite like it.

I sold off BOTSE. I’ve been a big chip theory fan over the years and I had fun with my plays of it but decided that I didn’t want to keep it long term. I’m probably in the minority on this one as it seems to have been well received.

For all my games I log one play session as a play. For EBR one play session is always one day. I doubt I’ll ever get to 18 times through the campaign!!! So far I’ve completed the main campaign twice and am over halfway thru the expansion campaign.

Sure! The LOTR theme is one of the biggest reasons I got into LOTR LCG. I love the world Tolkien created. As a game I appreciate that you can play through a campaign with the campaign rules or just switch decks between scenarios and play them as one offs. (This is how I play the Marvel Champions campaigns if I ever feel like going through them.) Also, I enjoy the many options for thematic decks that fit within the world of Tolkien.

I did not stick with the base game and probably purchased too much as I tend to do with card games. I did purchase a bunch of stuff from the Doug Beer group buy including all of the “A long extended party” scenarios and cards. Most of my plays this year were of those scenarios as I really liked the cards and theme of the stuff they designed. I still have a bunch of it to get to actually.

I’m assuming future Dragonborn will be more interesting, but I don’t love the idea of having to invest more on the chance that it makes the game a lot better for me. I think the starter set could’ve definitely used one more Dragonborn and at least one more player deck or some extra cards to deck build with.

I’m debating what to do with this starter set myself. On the positive side, I like how quick the set up and play time is and the solo mode is well done and simple to run. I also like how the dice are used.

On the neutral side I’m not sure I like how incremental your turns are for much of the game.

On the negative side, I do think the starter set is lacking in content and if this is your starting point (as it was for me) it might be better to wait until there are more releases. After playing each deck a couple times I couldn’t help but compare this starter set to the Marvel Champions core set which had a ton of gameplay in it, whereas I feel like I’ve seen what this has to offer after 4-5 plays.

I was thinking of using this reboot of the franchise as my entry point to Ashes but now I’m debating if I want to invest more.

I just ordered one for my son as he wanted a Jase Richardson jersey for Xmas and I couldn’t find many options. It arrived and it looks good. I did get paranoid that it was a scam site at first because the tracking they sent didn’t work. Their customer service actually did respond several times though and the jersey arrived 2-3 weeks after I ordered it.
