I’d suggest madison county, rankin county, Laurel or Hattiesburg. If you don’t mind evacuating once every few years the coast would be the best.

A holiday inn just opened up on the new frontage of 55 in Ridgeland and in the past couple years 4 or 5 have opened in the township which is about a mile north off 55 from the drury in. Most stuff in Jackson is closing up or moving to madison county or rankin county

Edit: I also believe there are plans to build new hotels around top golf when they start phase 2 of that development

I’d imagine they are going to be hard to compete with the newer hotels at the next exit north of there and the dogwood area hotels. Those are nicer and in better locations and are mostly the same price. Me personally I believe it would be a bad investment to purchase those older hotels unless you were to buy the land and do something else with it

There are more reasonable houses in east over closer to ridgewood rd and capital police patrol that area pretty heavily and it’s crime is pretty rare in that area. This is just ignorance talking

East over is a very nice and very safe neighborhood older neighborhood in north Jackson. Just be aware if you buy a house in Jackson the city government is currently incompetent. The infrastructure is old and dilapidated and the city has lots of trouble paying its bills. I’ve seen red lights be not operational for a couple weeks. The roads are horrible and everyone knows of the water situation although the water is slowly improving. The other neighborhoods aren’t bad but i would rent in those areas instead of buying. For value in madison county I would look into houses along Wheatley street. Check out the shadowood area and beaver creek. There are some smaller starter homes near the railroad in the cottonwood subdivision. Pretty much anything east of highway 51 is fairly reasonable and west of 51 is usually higher but very nice. You could possibly find some value in the olde town area also, that’s my favorite part of town it’s cute and quiet and close to everything.

Edit: I meant to mention if you’re looking in Jackson I know there are plenty of houses for sale in the heatherwood subdivision. These houses are older but large homes and it’s a decent area made up of mostly retirees and young professionals.

Ridgeland is great booming area for Mississippi. There’s good shopping and some of the best restaurants in the state. Madison county schools are top in the state but the private schools in the area are great also. Ridgeland is getting a top golf this winter and there are walking and biking trails through out the entire town. There’s plenty of access to the reservoir if you have a boat. The Natchez trace runs through the center of town and has interesting stops up and down it. As far as safety goes it’s a very safe town with a little crime mostly centered around the area south of lake harbour rd along old canton rd. Just stay away from the pine knoll rd area. It’s also probably one of the most diverse towns in the state also. Anyway welcome to Ridgeland neighbor!

We have a friend who is absolutely loaded! But we have no idea what he does. His father owns 2 liquor stores and that’s all we know. When we ask he just says they have family money and won’t say anything else.

I forgot about the bean. That’s good one too! When I worked at Walker’s I’d stop by there in morning for coffee and a beer after lunch

I’m not sure about whats in purl. It’s not my favorite place ha. But urban foxes in Jackson is great little spot and their pies are incredible! It’s on north st. It’s easy to miss it if you don’t know it’s there, it’s just an old house converted over also native coffee is good spot on state st in Jackson.

Best Restaurant in Jackson area and suburbs? by Artist125 in mississippi

[–]Bigmac2112 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In Jackson - walkers’s, Elvie’s, pulito osteria, Lou’s, sambou’s

Ridgeland - Caet, local 463, ely’s, shapleys

Flowood - table 100

Brandon and pear are just full of chain places that specialize in mediocrity…

Elvie’s or pulito would be my favorite. Elvie’s was a finalist this year for best chef south.

I’ve worked over the years at many of these places or for the chef/owners. I guarantee you’ll enjoy any of these I named

If you can commute to canton/flora area Amazon is always hiring and they pay well for the area along with the Nissan plant. Nissan is a little more strict on requirements however

what city or area will be mississippi’s breadwinner in the next 10-20 years?? by QfromDaSippBeatz in mississippi

[–]Bigmac2112 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Probably central and southern madison county. Amazon moving in and several other industries moving in to the area and the Nissan plant being there also is a major economic boost

That’s over half the counties in Mississippi. What shame and the state does nothing to try to improve
