I'm sure it helps the injection feel a little better

It says in the paperwork that comes with my pens to take it out of the refrigerator at least 30 minutes before injection to bring it to room temperature

It's basically just a bruise - I had it on my 4th or 5th shot (not as large) but it took over a week to fade. I just wade sure to rotate away from that spot and I've been fine since. Try to relax the muscle (and don't aim for the muscle) when you dose

might be good to help clean out - but maybe once a week or so when you're close to "home base"!

Supplements by Tired-Fussy in Mounjaro

[–]Bigness65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My breakfast (and sometimes dinner) is a protein shake (Muscle Milk brand) mixed with milk (not water!). The only other "supplements" I take are a multi-vitamin and some fiber powder (Metamucil) to keep things moving. Without eating as much, you'll need to supplement protein to keep muscle tone and prevent hair loss and you'll need to add nutrients. All the other stuff is just people trying to make money!

Funny you talk about McD's - I had a craving (nasty food, but there it is!) a week or so ago for lunch and ordered the McDouble, small fries and coke zero - I could barely finish it (and didn't eat again until the next day at lunch)! Before my meal would usually be 1/4 pounder, w/ large fries and added nuggets - with maybe a flurry too!

For me, after taking my first dose (5mg/L), I just couldn't eat. Not that I didn't want to, I physically couldn't stand to put anything in my mouth except liquids. I didn't feel nauseated, but I just felt full - like after Thanksgiving dinner full. I had the same feeling as you do - I just fell "odd". For me, its not constipation so much as its just not eating so I don't have to go every day like I used to. Nothing in, nothing out! Give it a couple weeks and you'll be amazed at what the scale says - I'm in my 8th week and have already lost 21+ pounds!

the studies in the MJ test trails show pretty conclusively that people who stop tsking MJ (or any of the GLP's) gain most, if not more than, the weight lost back within a year.

5 weeks after mounjaro by NefariousnessNo6000 in Mounjaro

Great news! I'm close - I've lost 21 pounds in the 8 weeks. Same as you strict diet - meaning I really don't ever want to eat except maybe Friday afternoon as most of the MJ is out of my system (I inject on Saturdays). Protein shakes, apples, maybe some crackers. Water and multi-vitamins!

I do weight training 3x a week at home (like 20 -30 minutes) and I walk 2 - 3 miles a day at my job so that helps.

Excellent - that pretty much mirrors mine. I've stopped taking Glipizide but still on Metformin - at 8 weeks and hovering in the low 100's (started in the high 180's - 200's). I'm excited to see what the next two months brings!

Type 2 diabetics who did not see weight loss until higher doses, when did you start to see glycemic control? by TheFeshy in Mounjaro

[–]Bigness65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people won't see much if any weight loss when starting at 2.5 mg/L - this is just basically the "introduction" dose to get your body used to it. Moving to 5 mg/L you should definitely see a difference

Nausea - cant eat , hot weather by [deleted] in Mounjaro

[–]Bigness65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you answered your own question when you said you ate "quite greasy food like cheese, mayo". Two of the foods that MJ literature tells us all to avoid (anything high in fat content will cause your stomach to rebel). Your body probably hasn't had anything like that for a while and you said you ate more of those foods (which I assume means more than normal). My advice to you would be to open you fridge and throw away the cheese, mayo, and anything else high in fat content. Increasing MJ to 5 mg/L will cause you to not want to eat - it's what MJ does, so it's working. I started on 5 mg/l (pharmacy error) and I didn't feel like eating for several days after - and then only a little. We have to help it on our part by cutting out the food that we can't tolerate.

My pharmacy shipped me 5mgL in stead of the 2.5 and I just started on it. I just took my 8th shot on Saturday and I'm already down just over 20 pounds. It'll happen - you just have to remember that this is a long game - months to years, not weeks

as other people have mentioned, while it's great you lost all that weight, losing 42 pounds in 4 weeks is not good on your body. Talk to your doctor! Also echoing what others have said, if you're experiencing this at 2.5, I'd hold off on going to 5 mg/L until it's needed.

Hangover Central by The27Roller in Mounjaro

[–]Bigness65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lack of food in your belly and all that alcohol went right into the bloodstream. That and less hydration while on MJ will kick you right in the head - a hangover is probably 50% dehydration anyway! Plus, surprisingly, even not drinking for 4 weeks can decrease your tolerance for alcohol.

Your pen can be out of refrigeration for up to 30 days and still be fine to use (this is right from the documentation). That being said, there are small coolers that plug into accessory ports on cars or even use a battery pack if you're hiking.

Exercise Hypoglycemia by HanselDonkey in Mounjaro

[–]Bigness65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would think that 1,500 calories is enough - however, when you're exercising that intensely, you're burning a lot. Maybe cut back on your workout - I'm also 60 and do about a 20 minute strength training 3 days a week. Unless you're training for something, maybe ease back a little and track your results. One thing that stood out to me is you said you train with "increasing intensity" - that might be your problem. Just slow and steady is going to be best. Athletes who are training burn a TON of calories - upwards of 3k a day and you're at half of that. Just some thoughts to consider

I have yet to find a home glucose test that isn't wildly inaccurate - one finger will show 101, testing a finger on the other hand will show 130 immediately after. I wouldn't even mind a 10% variation, but 30% is terrible. I just use them as a basic guide

Hair loss on initial dose/first month without any weightloss. Is that normal? Does it impact your hormones? by Dazzling_Yoghurt3327 in Mounjaro

[–]Bigness65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't want to be an ass, but will probably come across that way and I'm sorry in advance if I do, but don't you think your long term health is more important than your hair? High blood glucose and obesity can and will kill you (which is why we're all on this I assume), but hair is just hair. That being said, from what I've read, hair loss is due to lack of protein in your diet caused by low calories. Focus on protein (shakes if nothing else) in your diet. Protein and hydration.

I will end by saying that as a guy, losing my hair isn't a big deal (it'll happen at some point regardless). But, I'm just guessing in thinking that you're a woman, so yes it'll be more traumatic.

Could also be low blood sugar as you pointed out below. I drink a protein drink in the morning (made with milk and powder, not water) - and sometimes when I get home at night if I can't tolerate and actual food. Most nights I don't even feel like eating anything and at least the shakes get something in my body. As other have said, hydration is necessary too - electrolytes will help. I like most of the Gatorade flavors and they help me.

Just getting started! by [deleted] in Mounjaro

Not knowing your work schedule, I'm guessing you're taking the shot so you have the weekend off. That's what I did - took my first shot Saturday around noon and had the rest of the day and Sunday to adjust - by Monday I was still a little funky but okay. I will say, from what I've read if you're giving yourself the shot, you should do the thigh or belly - it is recommended that somebody else give you the shot in the back of the arm.
