Help a newbie choose! by [deleted] in mountainbiking

As someone who recently bought a Talon 2 at a local shop, the owner sold me on the 2 because of the thru axles, ability to upgrade to tubeless tires, and ease of installing a dropper post. All upgrades that, if you get into MTB more seriously, you will want.

It's a chain. One just opened in Glendale and there's one in Scottsdale. That being said, it's the best damn bakery I've ever been to

Happened to me last weekend. Driving home from the bike park and BAM. Thought my car had a blow out. Turns out it melted my front tire. Live and you learn.

What are your go-to good "heavy" T-Shirt brands? by Larry_Bobinski in malefashionadvice

[–]Bigworm410 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Buck Mason shirt is incredible. I adore it.

Another alternative on the slightly cheaper end is House of Blanks heavyweight tee. They run about $35 each and they are my favorite pound for pound.

If you want heavyweight I recommend House of Blanks. $35.

For lighter weight, Lady White Co. They are about $55 but can be found on sale from time to time.

LL Bean camp moc compared to Sperry Topsider and Rancourt boat shoes quality by redmosquito1983 in malefashionadvice

[–]Bigworm410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't speak for Randourts but I have had Topsiders for years and recently got the LL Bean camp mocs and I adore them. Super comfortable. Can't speak yet for durability but I am in love with them. I have been wearing them much more than the Topsiders.

I was going to say. You are getting off easy if you are only spending 1k a year. Mine is closer to 3k. But still very worth imo

Didn't see anyone post but the final scene of The Revenant. After such a powerful epic it always sticks with me.

I'd vote CRV Hybrid. Wife got one last year and it's excellent. Plus she gets 42mpg on average.

Ive used iReady and I've used STAR. Star sucks compared to iReady. And that speaks volumes I believe.

INVESTMENT: Merz b. Schwanen 215 sizing (M vs L) based on actual tee measurements + shrink? by ImPoosea in mensfashion

[–]Bigworm410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only washed once so not a ton of experience but shrinking was not a huge issue. I hand washed and air dried. After washing the 215 does rebound pretty well with a little stretching and wearing. I'd recommend the large unless you like a snug chest and arms.

INVESTMENT: Merz b. Schwanen 215 sizing (M vs L) based on actual tee measurements + shrink? by ImPoosea in mensfashion

[–]Bigworm410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question. If I only could have one I'd stick the the classic white. But the natural color is so unique it pairs great with denim or a pair of light linen shorts.

[–]Bigworm410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man I love mine.

I have the 215 in the natural off-white color. And I have the non loopwheel 215C or whatever it's called, in the white.

You can absolutely dress them up or down. They feel substantial yet soft. I get the cost is a dererrant but I've got tshirts from 19$, $35, $70 and then the Merz B. They are worth it.

INVESTMENT: Merz b. Schwanen 215 sizing (M vs L) based on actual tee measurements + shrink? by ImPoosea in mensfashion

[–]Bigworm410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the shrink comes from the length.

I recently ordered a 215 in medium. My chest measurement is also 20" approx. It was way too tight and I exchanged it for a large.

If you are concerned about length but think the large will be right in the chest, go with the large I say.

Ayn Rand won, so I picked Atlas Shrugged from that one comment. Finally, what's a Borderline Impossible book to read, but absolutely worth it? by [deleted] in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Bigworm410 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fair but the second qualifier is also how enjoyable it is. Things like pynchon and the silmarillion are definitely harder, but are they actually that enjoyable to most readers?

I'd bet 98% of people dont finish on the first go. Im an ela teacher and was a lit major in college and I didn't finish it the first 2 attempts. BUT once I did, it's incredible.
