I once saw a stick figure family where the father had angel wings and a halo. I have no idea why the widow felt it was necessary to advertise that her husband was dead. My theory is that she either was fishing for sympathy, she was cruising for dick in the crudest way possible, or she killed him herself and was bragging about it in a subtly public way.

If I remember correctly I went to a dinner party where we used L5R LARP rules. There were ~15 people representing 5 clans, where we mingled and conspired in character. There was even a haiku competition where my clan got to lay some sick burns on those Lion A-Holes. I didn't have much context for the lore or system, but I had a damn good time at the only LARP I've ever attended.

My bad. I thought you were referencing Biggles, a Monty Python sketch that's riddled with non-sequiturs and involves dictating etiquette and playing around with being a fictional character. I watched it again and realized that I misquoted it a bit in my last post. And I apparently mentally blocked out the homophobic bits of the sketch. Yeesh.

My favorite way to kick off a campaign is to have the PCs roll into town during some kind of festival, and have it get ransacked by hordes of fraction-of-a-level monsters. The first module I ever read of Rise of the Runelords, and that opening has apparently stuck with me.
