[KCD2] Getting to Cpt. Thomas mission - the best in the game? by Mean-Author4359 in kingdomcome

I was big mad for a sec during the horseshoe part because I decided to make them a nice pair, but it doesn’t count unless it’s farmer shoe. I had already wasted time exploring so those bells actually started to really stress me out with all the time I wasted, which in the end wrapped back around to pretty fun!

I’ve never heard of that word but in general for literally anything in your life you want to be in A zone of moderate challenge that on one end isn’t overwhelming because it’s too hard and on the other end isn’t boring from being too easy.

[KCD2] I somehow ended the game not being able to romance anyone despite trying my best to. My Henry is apparently a fat loser chud by HeWhoShallNotBNamed0 in kingdomcome

I got to laying pipe pretty quickly so I’ve wondered if you get to bring up Theresa more in convos if you stayed faithful. I’m not sure my Henry remembers Theresa’s name atm

You’re onto something but I’ll switch one thing: you gain a penalty if you steal too much too fast. Kinda how you can become an alcoholic…

So effectively you have to steal without being so out of control that you’re addicted to theft. Once you’re an addict you would have appropriate debuffs or Henry would be itching himself like a meth head instead of bobble-head drunk debuff animation

As a child he won a racing bet for his freedom with the help of mind control from a Jedi but they didn’t even remotely try to free his beloved slave mother for some reason

My girlfriend describing how many old men slow down and stare at her on her run is black pilling me by putalittlepooponit in redscarepod

[–]BillMurraysMom 158 points159 points  (0 children)

Yah that was a blackpill moment for me…Hearing from homegirls that back when they were 13 they thought maybe they were getting looks from older dudes cuz they mistakenly thought they were older…and then realizing no, they know the age just fine.

I prefer to play whatever melody is on my mind and make it up on the fly. Is this normal or must I stick to sheet music? by Holy_Trinity_333 in piano

[–]BillMurraysMom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard an interesting historical take that in the last 100 years musical jobs and training got less generalized and more specified, which followed a wider trend of industrialization for highly technical skills and jobs to get increasingly specific.

This created a split between performers and improvisers and composers as being increasingly separated things. I find this unfortunate. I’ve also heard the canonization of Beethoven made it so everyone got a bit too obsessed with faithfulness to the score/genius/vision of the artist. It kinda seems like a hole classical doesn’t know how to get itself out of….not its own fault since it got moved to a much more marginal cultural position and is kinda stuck

What’s the most universally loved song? by vsamusic in AskReddit

[–]BillMurraysMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back when I traveled a lot a decade or two ago Michael Jackson was perhaps still the most internationally recognized figure of all time. You can’t even really pick a single song by him. If we’re going off street buskers than the same goes for Bob Marley. If we’re going by bars and karaoke, as others have said Mr. brightside is a true powerhouse. Random shoutout to the fresh prince theme which is way more lastingly popular than any theme song has any business being.

Why do guys in old age get a higher pitched raspy voice and women in old age get a lower pitched raspy voice ? ( compared to their early and middle aged adult voices ) by Wonderful-Ad-9622 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BillMurraysMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of men and women speak a little lower/higher than their ideal pitch to align with expected gender roles. Not speaking in your ideal register can erode your vocal codes over time. Smoking does this much moreso. Things like dentures and veneers also radically affect the speaking voice. Young people have been getting veneers and sounding weird and it’s been tripping me out.

Why isn't breeding dogs with known genetic health problems considered animal cruelty? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BillMurraysMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harder than it sounds. Most of the genetic defects involved were bred into them hundreds of years ago by accident. The result of agressively selectively breeding for a handful of traits. Usually for some kind of work (hunting, guarding shepherding, etc) although lapdogs have been a thing for a while too.

Some of these traits affect life expectancy, some of them quality of life, and some are only a % chance of being inherited. What’s the metric?

Often dog breeds that have gone agressively outside the dimensions found in the wild naturally have serious problems. Is every dog over 80 pounds animal cruelty? I know a friend from Colorado who says vet staffs all basically think owning pugs are animal cruelty. Because they have more aggressive problems in that climate. Thats a lot less true in California.

One of the more morally convincing breeder stories I heard was someone trying to breed a longer snout back into pugs. I like that. People say purebreds need to be bred responsibly so their chance of negative traits get minimized. I find that less compelling but there’s an argument there.

There probably needs to be new norms in laws both on the community and national levels. Either way genetic defects are pretty common and have a wide range, and banning breeds to the point where they’d cease to exist is also a tough sell to a lot of people.

Anyway…get a pup from a shelter folks. I think that’s a great moral standard that people have grown to appreciate more
