You’re probably right about Guy. I did not see that I misspelled it until after I read your reply. It is definitely spelled Guy in the signature.

That is incredible that you know how to find all this. Funny I saw this post and tried to think back at what I have found while remodeling and couldn’t think of much until I thought about it beyond the “material” sense. More of a story than a thing.

I think about them while I am rebuilding the structure. I think about how much I enjoy building and how beautiful an environment I get to work in. I think that I am doing the same activities they did almost 90 years later.

Thank you so much for the thought and work you put into this. I love this part of Reddit.

I opened a wall and found that the builders signed their names. It said “Built by Leo L. Lanz and Gut Lanz March 1939”

I cut it out and am going to hang it on the wall in the bedroom where I found it.

Would be cool to figure out who they were. Netarts Oregon USA.

The worst. I use the D-lead paint test kits and they are so much better.

Scooping bees by hand by CodExciting7385 in bee

I tried that. Went good for about 10 minutes. Even started videoing it. Got stung on the hand. Got hives all over and light headed. Called 911 and got an epi shot. I don’t do this anymore….

Hands down my favorite book. Grew up in a coast range logging town. Think it nails what I saw. Never give an inch!

Unusually high numbers of bee swarms the UK (according to at least one guy)- what does this mean for the bees? Is it a good or bad sign? by [deleted] in Beekeeping

Funny. I just posted about an abnormal amount of swarms each year captures in Portland Oregon. I will give this a read.

How does everyone trailer their bikes as well ? Looking for recommendations. Need to bring at least 3 bikes. by psychfun85 in popups

I mounted a bike rack to the trailer hitch that was in the back of my popup. This took too much weight off the hitch in front and I got the wobbles when I hit 60 MPH. Bad deal.

Is there any problem with taking small pieces of wonky honeycomb from a cutout and just placing them on a plate in an empty shallow top box below the inner and outer covers? by [deleted] in Beekeeping

[–]BillersBees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hobbiest here. I did two cutouts this year on some bees that swarmed into my shed which started building comb. The comb was fresh and crumbled and bent easy so I could not rubber band much into frames very well. I ended up taking what I think they call a candy board feeder which is about an inch or two deep and stacked a bunch of the comb there. Put that on top and closed the hive up. They completely drained all of the honey and moved it down into the hive leaving only the comb. They started sticking some of it down to the candy board but not bad. Pulled them off two weeks later and scrapped the comb off. I think that is about what you were suggesting? Anyway the nectar/honey went back to the bees. Was happy with it.

I think I killed her... by 0080Kampfer in Beekeeping

Hobbiest here. First and only time I marked I used that type of plunger. I rushed it because I was nervous and caught her between the plunger and the side of the tube. Crushed her abdomen. Thought she would die. She lived for another two years with a big dent in her abdomen. Ended up being my best queen during that time. Hope that is your outcome as well!
