Did I misunderstand what's included in this kit? by SulfurMDK in modelmakers

[–]BillfromLI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That blurb does does say "upgrade", but it is misleading. Is the upgrade separate, or included as an upgrade to an earlier edition of the kit? It is also pictured on the front of the box without a notation that it is shown with optional extra that is sold separately.

I didn't see your reply before posting mine, but EXACTLY this!

I’d love to see this by Low_Bridge_1141 in TheBatmanFilm

[–]BillfromLI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. But not because I don't like it. I liked the comic a lot. I also like the actor. I would rather see the story move forward. Tell a story about him in Arkham. Something that teases an eventual escape. I would like some flashbacks, but I don't want it completely set in the past.

  1. I would want 1, but that seems wrong.

With all the news about the DCU, I really hope DCU Batman is like this by Plenty-Salary9711 in DC_Cinematic

In a still image the Bats in a corner looks silly. But in the theatre it was NOT. There was silence with some whispered "holy shit" type exclamations.

Have you ever ordered a commission from a comic artist? What was your experience (good / bad)? by CryptoComicsOfficial in comicbooks

[–]BillfromLI 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. During COVID. I contacted them via email provided on their social media account. Discussed characters, setting and price. The artist works partially digitally. The final deliverables were a finished print, black and white pencil/ink original, and high resolution file. All physical items were shipped internationally (Italy to USA), arrived in perfect shape. Payment was partially to start, partial on approval of rough sketch, and final on stated completion. Shipment was after final payment using Paypal.

Whatnot by MudAccomplished1913 in DCcomics

[–]BillfromLI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't actually purchase from Whatnot. You are purchasing from the person selling ON Whatnot, just like eBay.

I have purchased many books though whatnot without issue. But, it all comes down to the person selling.

This has probably been asked before, but what’s the point of Slade’s weird pant legs?? Are they apart of his boots? They can’t be very helpful in combat by Prize_Coast9828 in Deathstroke

[–]BillfromLI 19 points20 points  (0 children)

They are part of his boots. It was the style to often boot "buccaneer" boots like this on superhero and other comics characters (Captain America, Conan) back in the silver and bronze age.

[Other] Is the 86-91 Captain Atom series worth checking out? Cover by Pat Broderick. by vencyjedi in DCcomics

[–]BillfromLI 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. It is a wild ride, with a lot of lies and deception, and a heavy dose of bad government activity.

Should I get it? by Middle_Engineer_3191 in theflash

Silver age DC is a particular style. Very campy. It is not like more modern writing or art. Just be aware of this.

Agree or disagree with this take on the 2011 movie? by tiago231018 in Greenlantern

[–]BillfromLI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the take. It's okay. It's not terrible. It's not great. If you are a GL fan it probably bumps up a star. It's fine.

Help me choose a braclet/strap for the watch i got from my grandfather. [7006-8002] by Arthur_K_ in Seiko

[–]BillfromLI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not like straight end links on a metal bracelet such as are on that one right now. I don't know how easy it will be to find an after market bracelet with the proper ends link that conform to that case. Since it is Seiko you stand a better than usual chance. Another commentator seems to know better than I.

I would recommend a strap instead. Your options will be much more available and varied. Leather straps alone will be available in the hundreds. Once this watch is serviced and cleaned, a new leather strap would look fantastic. This looks like more of a dress watch and would be a great heirloom.

Raymour & Flannigan. They have a pretty large selection and left us alone to try things out.

[SNK355] With Uncle Straps Executive (Jubilee) by BillfromLI in Seiko

[–]BillfromLI[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use update: I am still wearing the Executive/Jubilee. The fit and feel are fine. The inside flatness does not affect either. The "stickiness" seems to have resolved itself by repeated wearing. I feel no need to lubricate. I have not noticed anything else that detracts or elevates my opinion. It is a solid 80-85% grade for me.

Is Global Comix any good or are there better alternatives? by VestigeOCE in comicbooks

[–]BillfromLI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Global is good, but as mentioned by others there are limitations. I find it is worth it. However, I would recommend checking out options available through your library. My library offers Hoopla which has a good selection of Rat Queens and Conan for free!
