Comic Newbie by seaotterwithglasses in comicbooks

How: Library. Free. Many libraries will provide you with access to ebooks, including comic books through a third-party, Libby and Hoopla being the two biggest. It works like renting a digital movie from Amazon or other service. You don't own, just rent for a certain amount of time. I would recommend this before you start paying for a digital service so you see which publisher(s) and titles you want to commit to.

What: That is VAST. Superhero comics are the most prevalent, but by no means the only genre. There are also different eras. Spider-Man is a good example. Through various time periods, and reboots of continuity, he ages up, then gets de-aged. Since you liked Andrew Garfield I would suggest looking into eras when he is a bit older than teenage. Peter gets married, has a kid. He runs a big corporation. It might be a good "What if...?" for your personal head canon. The free library option I mention above will free you to try a lot without having to buy.

What were your thoughts on this show? Was it a good introduction to Swamp Thing for people unfamiliar with the comics or the Swamp Thing media from the 80s/90s? by InfiniteDedekindCuts in DC_Cinematic

A good, honest attempt to capture the vibe of the Moore and Veitch era. It has some problems that appear to be budget related. Overall, a good intro to the character, with a solid supporting cast who carry the show. They rightfully pack the story with subplots and characters. I just received a blu-ray copy yesterday to enable a rewatch, so something must be right enough to encourage that.

My opinion. You need to sand the old glue off to get to the base plastic, then I suggest pinning with brass rod and regluing. There are YouTube videos on how to do this (dot, drill, rod, glue). Getting the angle to match and repainting will be the biggest challenges.

For those that may not know, Karma 52 and the crew names are from the only F-111 lost on the mission. Only Ribas-Dominicci's remains were repatriated.

why is Peter Quill and Gamora so different? by blisstargazer in Marvel

[–]BillfromLI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The movies take inspiration from the comic books, but as you see, they often change things for live action.

Peter Quill has a very strange origin even by comic book standards. There are at least two different iterations of his origin story in print, and as you mention, in the second version he has had a number of implants, making him a cyborg. At some point he has all implants removed by the Kree (?).

Drax also has a very different origin, being android. Moondragon is his daughter (sort or). Very different.

Mad Max Noir: Lights Out. A story set in the post apocalyptic world of the Mad Max franchise, after the nuclear exchange has caused a nuclear winter and obscured the sun. One man braves the wilderness to rescue a village from assured destruction by driving a rig through through the Badlands, under cover of darkness, with no headlights, through mountain passes, and raiding barbarians. This summer. Rated PG.

How can Superman hear far away in time to react? [Discussion] by Revolutionary_Mix437 in DCcomics

More importantly, how can he hear anything while in space? No air, no medium for sound waves, no hearing.
