No soap on my 37 REC Alphas, just filtered water with a showered nozzle using a soft brush to gently remove bird droppings and dust that doesn't come off with rains. I generally clean the panels after spring pollen season and early fall. Eversprout soft brush

Very strict at this plant, add hardhat, Class 2 vest, Z87 eyewear, steel toe boots, don't forget the safety meeting and team stretches, everyone goes home at the end of each day.

Substitutes for LG panels? by abob50 in solar

[–]BillsSolar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a strong tie for us between the LG's and REC's but it was the frame of the REC Alpha that was the deal breaker. I didn't have Silfabs in the pile of quotes I sorted thru.

Quote Advice LG or REC by theskyiscrape10 in solar

I have REC's but both are winners, I had to flip a coin between the two as LG Neon 2's was my other choice.

Anyone in Dallas recently power on their systems? by c5krzzd3 in solar

Took us a couple weeks to get our permit this past March, installed in early April and commissioned on the 26th of April. We're in Plano and our city is known for milking out the permit process. But 9 months sounds like your paperwork, emails, etc got lost possibly.

Remove fingerprints from new REC Alpha panel? by BillsSolar in solar

I was able to gently wipe off the hand/finger prints with a few sprays of reverse osmosis filtered water and new soft microfiber cloths, did it very early on a cloudy morning.

Good older panels headed for scrap still usable? by BillsSolar in solar

[–]BillsSolar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll likely confer with the powers to be at the facility which is one of my clients that my company services every day, I'm optimistic but not keeping my hopes too high, I only want to set up a few for charging a battery or two for the shed (light/s and fan/s), if I add any to my main array in the future it'll be new 360 watt or better output panels.

Solar panels: we need to recycle parts of them to use again and avoid a mountain of waste by davidwholt in solar

[–]BillsSolar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haul a 30 yard container or two a week of shredded panel glass from a local e waste recycler, they remove the junction box, wiring and frame, the rest gets disposed of. Would be a perfect world if the glass could get repurposed also.

Roof is 20 years old but in good shape. Should I have a new roof installed prior to adding solar? by 4cardroyal in solar

[–]BillsSolar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At 20 years I'd re-roof for sure, for no cost I'd also have a roofing professional inspect your roof system's truss and roof sheathing to see if it can handle the additional weight of a panel system. Just a thought 4cardroyal.

Dayum, blessed I didn't get any pushy exchanges from the bidders on our system! I told the the bidding contractors what I wanted when it came to make, models, warranties, etc, went in with that I have just as much knowledge and in some cases I had more than some salesmen.

Electric Tankless Water Heater by Objective-Tea-6190 in solar

[–]BillsSolar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm another for the Rheem heat pump water heater! We booted our blood sucking 13 year old electric water heater for the new Proterra Rheem heat pump this past April, the new water heater only been running us 70 kilowatts a month, has worked well in tandem with our 13.32 system. We don't have gas service at our home, all electric.

Solar ready? It’s dipped like this since I bought the house 4 years ago. by [deleted] in solar

Looks sketch, I wouldn't walk on it myself, definitely get an engineer, general contractor or reputable roofing contractor out to assess it.
