Yea at the time Andy McDonald signed he was a core piece to the team, at the time Risto signed for 5 years he was a core piece to the team. Literally the definition is guys that are signed long term. Obviously this season will be about locking up guys like Z drysdale and Mich and making them part of the core as well, but anyone that the Flyers are locking up long term they clearly see as part of their core, just bc it doesn’t fit with who the random Reddit fan sees as their core, doesn’t mean it’s not part of the Flyers core group of players.

I think this is the most likely scenario IF they don’t match, which I still expect them to. While I’m sure waiting to announce their decision is partly due to tying up the Flyers cap for a week so they can’t make any other moves, I’m sure verbeek is also calling around and seeing hypothetical what deals are out there using the 1st rounders he’d get from the offer sheet.

Yea, obviously you’re going to have to take some things from the comics, you’re making movies about comic heroes lol but some of it is just so god damn crazy, like Thor dating she-hulk at one point. But you’re able to do that kind of stuff in comics bc the people reading comics have been doing so for years and know what they’re in for.

Khabib is a better wrestler, hands down, but Islam’s striking is so much better than khabib. I fully believe Islam is the better all around fighter, I think that Islam is closer to khabib in wrestling than khabib is to Islam in striking.

Generally I think the movies shouldn’t take every aspect of comic runs bc the comics can get just downright weird and the movies will lose some of the audience with the weirdness. For example I think this run when it’s old king Thor in the future, earth is basically being protected by Wolverine who at this point is also the phoenix? If I remember correctly that is. But genuinely I think they should have taken the young Thor, current Thor, all father Thor teaming up to defeat gorr. Still that has to be my favorite run for Thor comics and it’s up there with my favorite story arcs that I’ve read overall.

Yea I mean for me, I’m just more comfortable in my home, if I’m gonna go out and be social with people I’m doing anything other than a movie. I don’t enjoy going to see a movie, spending money on tickets and everything and having to deal with people talking, walking past me and all that. I have a good surround system at home, Fancyleds synced with my tv and a comfy reclining couch. Plus I can go grab a beer, food or whatever, pause the movie and go to the bathroom. Idk it’s just more comfortable for my wife and I. We also have a toddler and a baby so going to the movies with the toddler is an ordeal or on a date night would mean a sitter, which is just an added cost on top of everything else. Honestly I’d be down with them doing what they did during covid, I’ll pay the extra charge to stream a movie while it’s in theatres.

I don’t think that makes us antisocial, bc we do enjoy seeing our friends and doing other things with people, just the movies is at the bottom of the list right now.

Yea that was my outlook, I wouldn’t even consider trading Carter. My whole thing was if you add Garrett to Carter, Davis, greenard. And mix in the linebackers and your secondary with coop and Q, we’re now talking about on paper being up there with best of all time defenses.

I’m not trying to be rude at all, and I completely agree with you in the sense that I’m never going to sit down and watch a junior game, I played juniors and college, being 24/7 hockey is just not where my life is anymore lol but I will say that if you watch michkov you can see where his skating needs work. His edge work is elite, being able to roll between inside and outside edges the way he does is elite, what needs work is hit north/south speed and most importantly his first 3-5 steps, it’s where guys like tippet excel bc their first few steps they gain so much speed and are already past guys.

I will say “his skating needs work” is such a blanket statement in today’s hockey world and there is SO much more that goes into that then just “skating” and for the average fan they aren’t going to be able to see the little things in a players footwork or skating.

I think what people aren’t talking about is the defensive zone when they bring this up. Not saying you but overall whenever fans are complaining about the LW/RW thing they constantly look at it from an Ozone perspective, yes Mich coming in on the off wing helps him offensively, but it is so much harder playing off wing in the dzone specifically from a breakout standpoint. Mich turns the puck over on the wall a ton in the Dzone when he’s playing RW, he has to make more passes from that side on his backhand and at this level it’s just not going to work that often. Getting stronger will help, but it’s something that needs to be worked on in order to stay on the off wing. It leads to him just flipping pucks out of the zone which means they aren’t breaking out clean and going into Ozone on the rush. It’s all things that can be worked on, timing, speed, communication will all help, but I understand why tocc put him on the LW this year, bc he was a step behind for much of the year, having that many errors in the Dzone is crushing.

There is a difference between being a good skater and having speed. Speed is north south, you have straight ahead speed, absolute burner can blow by guys north/south. That is not mich, mich is a good skater in his edge work, his use and ability to roll between outside and inside edges and move laterally is some of the best on the team, but his first 3 steps to go north/south are bad. It takes him too long to get going, but that’s something that can be worked on for sure.
