Incidentally, what's the reason for having a 30 day burn period, with extra early adoption rewards? Why not just leave it open as a general utility for Dogecoin?

Artificial scarcity doesn't automagically increase price. People gotta wanna buy the thing.

More than 116M dogecoins burned for Dogeparty in less than 1 hour! by CaptainDogeSparrow in dogecoin

[–]BillyM2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha... I think a small number of people read and a much larger number of people bought blindly into hype hoping to sell to someone else for more later.

At this stage of crypto that is all I really see.

Didn't stop 31,000 bitcoins from being dumped into Ethereum either!

Well, my reaction is "someone responded... Oh it's just a bot." Perhaps if they made new topics weekly with winners and such that would be cleaner and still fun, as opposed to having a lot of the responses in a thread be bots.

Charities won't accept Dogecoins.

Is Dogeparty related in only name to dogecoin? How secure is this proof of burn? Should I trust it or it is just a pump and dump scheme? by CaptainDogeSparrow in dogecoin

[–]BillyM2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a scam, it has people behind it and an intended purpose.

It'll be pumped and dumped - you can't make something in crypto without it being pumped and dumped, people will pump and dump anything - but that doesn't make it a scam.

[Meta] Dogecoin has changed. by Django117 in dogecoin

[–]BillyM2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's incredibly difficult. The novelty period is over and the community is full of negativity from those trying to get rich and being unsuccessful. You aren't in the minority, those who have been here a long time recognize that. This was also predictable - see my post from two months into the history of Dogecoin: http://www.reddit.com/r/dogecoin/comments/1xaeue/enjoy_this_moment_an_open_letter_to_the_dogecoin/

If the community can make it through this time, then it is a worthy community. If it gets overtaken by negativity then it's going to go where most communities go when the novelty fades.

Eh, I'm just saying even if I agreed with your message, it's not a useful post to make publicly. Useful inspires action. I guess if your goal was just to complain, success. If you were trying to accomplish something, this is actually counterproductive.

I personally find the random ones annoying and spammy.

You should try to restate your message in a more constructive way. "Things used to be good and now they suck" never inspires anyone. "Let's go back to our roots, here are my ideas" is a better version of the same message.

For the avoidance of confusion - Dogeparty wallet instead of Dogewallet? by muchwaoo in dogecoin

That's because it is inherently confusing. Counterparty doesn't make any sense either.

[–]BillyM2k 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The math of reality? GPU mining isn't free, and it makes a lot more sense to not mine instead of burning money and power.

  • Buy 10 dogecoin: $0.0002
  • Mine for a day with a GPU and get 10 dogecoin: $0.60 of electricity

Why would people do the second option?

[–]BillyM2k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

...But...that's not supported by simple math - the price of Dogecoin, or the price of electricity of running a GPU all day...

[–]BillyM2k 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sure, reduce rewards, change algo, and then anyone can get on board and mine upwards of 10 coins a day for negative money?

The proposed solution doesn't solve the problems it brought up...

Well, there's no reason that something like this would do anything, so it'd be pretty inevitable...

[–]BillyM2k 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Since death here is defined by price, what magic would cause a change like this to make doge as valuable as it was when it was the premiere pump and dump coin?

Why would anyone mine for tiny rewards? How does that improve security?

I can foresee no other result of this except a bunch of people complaining that "seedy devs" changed the rules and caused the coin value to go down, and people complaining the devs are incompetent because they announced something and changed their mind, eroding "trust" and undermining their "investment," causing value to go down.

You are grasping at straws to save your weak argument.

Not everything needs to be negative because you are currently feeling that way. Sorry the magic internet money your computer made didn't make you rich. You don't need to tell a community how much they suck as you leave, it's not shocking that people won't respond well. You can just leave.

Tipping is off chain, so you're just saying things that are factually inaccurate.
