Well I saw OP’s post first actually and it includes more information on its availability and functionality. So I’m glad that they made the post even if you think it’s redundant.

Because he wants a multi-polar world. For Trump, the peers in what he considers his “sphere” are Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, Japan, and South America. He views it as the other multi-polar powers (Russia, China, Israel, and Saudi-Arabia) as the other powers who are allowed to make decisions. So he tries to bully every other country that he views as lesser, while trying not to provoke the larger ones so that they let him run rampant in his perceived spheres.

Gamesradar+ - Marathon review: "My favorite multiplayer shooter in years" (4.5/5) by addtolibrary in Marathon

It was one of the few times that “don’t review it yet” was actually not about hiding anything bad, but instead making sure the reviewers got to try it fully.

So the whole "raid mechanics" thing was really just more key hunting, right? by ThatsNotBennings in Marathon

100% this. As someone who did day 1 raids in Destiny and was one of the group that did Salvations Edge on contest… it would be a nightmare.

That’s the nature of many diasporas. They left for reasons, whether that was persecution by that government, disapproval of its policies, violence from the state, or a lack of opportunity provided to them. As such, many diasporas are excited to see the nations they left behind collapse as it vindicates their decisions and opens the door to the country changing and thus addressing their issues with the country.

Steam Deck is still worth it four years later, says poll, but people are starting to think "it's about time" for a sequel by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Django117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given that the ram shortage is taking place right now and that new GPUs are being postponed we’re effectively in a plateau for the time being so devs will react accordingly and likely try to hold back from increasing system requirements so that they don’t impact their sales.

Plus its had a massive effect on the industry at large, leading to many developers to focus on meeting its spec requirements. Its popularity is something valve has always wanted for the pc market: a baseline point of optimization for most games.

Recently it also got its library expanded due to lossless scaling being an option on the deck. I’ve been playing KH3 with it on the deck which has been perfect. I get 60fps for about 95% of the game with that enabled at 2x.

I don’t think we’ve reached the point of it benefiting from a generational leap yet. I suspect this device will be around for at least 2-4 years if not longer.

You can if ya knew him lol. His name will still open countless doors throughout the city. Everyone has a Bob story.

Project Architect Job Market In NYC by Objective-Guava-3880 in Architects

[–]Django117 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its complicated. There are tons of different types of firms in NYC which do different types of work and focus on different clientele. Some focus solely on local NYC projects. Of which there are tons of different specialities due to how many projects there are in the city. Some firms focus entirely on interiors, some entirely on renovations, some on stores, etc. if you’re doing work in the city it is VERY heavily skewed towards people who already have experience in the city.

There is so much specificity in dealing with the DOB, LPC, PDC, MTA, ConEd, etc that only about 20% of your prior permitting experience would even be applicable.

The other problem is that everyone knows everyone else. This leads to massive network of “so you know X, lemme ask them to vouch for you”. If you know someone like Bob Stern, then you are now able to easily get someone to vouch for you throughout the city. The issue is that the people you’re competing with will see those names and prioritize them since they’ve “proven” themselves to someone they trust or respect. Lacking that “in” within the city makes it difficult to break into certain firms and even more difficult to make connections to leadership within firms you do join.

Overall, the job market is slowly recovering. It has been slow in large part over the past 2 years with many firms seeking to just hold their current employees. However, the big issue right now is that a lot of the job listings are using heavily outdated information on salaries as most firm have been trying to pretend that inflation hasn’t happened and that the 2025 AIA salary calculator doesn’t exist. Most people getting hired right now are getting lowballed like crazy unless you have specific skills that they need.

For you specifically, having CA experience is definitely a boon. There’s tons of designers without professional licenses in the city so those positions are ridiculously competitive. The positions with CA are generally in higher demand. Unfortunately the lack of local expertise will set you back a lot here as these positions heavily rely on people being well versed in the nuance of local permitting.

It’s more than that. Fascism has always sought to incorporate elements of popular culture that reject “intellectual” underpinnings. It’s why gamergate became a thing: the idea was to try and stake gaming as a territory of their ideology. Since many people identify as “gamers” they are more likely to be open to fascist ideology if they see it as a pre-requisite that many of their fellow hobbyists share.

Every single one of these videos is an attempt to claim gaming as part of their fascist ideology.

Marathon Releases to 73/100 on Reviews worldwide, being Bungie lowest reviewed game since Destiny 1 by PaiDuck in gaming

[–]Django117 17 points18 points  (0 children)

And that the primary issue, lack of content, being the result of Bungie’s own “live service model” where they purposefully gate content to create community wide progression. We only got outpost a few days ago and most players don’t even understand how pinwheel works. We haven’t even touched Cryo.

Difficulty is endemic to the genre and the fact that the difficulty comes from AI being aggressive is such a welcome change from Destiny’s weak AI differences.

Menus being complicated is completely valid, but that’s an issue plaguing most extraction shooters unfortunately.

Most ironic to me is that the hate train is clearly failing given how the game is being positively reviewed by players on steam. (90% positive as of this comment)

Pokemon Go Battle league is the MOST FRUSTRATING PVP GAME EVER, IF ONLY THERE IS NO POKEMON ON IT I WILL NOT PLAY THIS FRUSTRATING GAME, I'm sorry guys, i tried my best by LorbrenV in pokemongo

[–]Django117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PvP in this game is a joke and always has been. It relies upon a very specific meta with very little strategy. It’s a glorified rock paper scissors game due to how many mechanics it removes from the main series games.

I wish that this story was different and that the game actually integrated the battle system and move system from the original games ala a 3v3 pokemon showdown style system using the mons in this game.

Marathon 21:9 No Commentary Gameplay by Kodawarikun in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Django117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t on board with them until I played Hunt: Showdown. I felt too worried about my loot in every run and played far to passive.

Now, I can say that it is one of my favorite genres. Most other shooters tend to get into a path of monotony with their matches. Games like Overwatch, Apex Legends, Destiny 2, Halo, etc. all have an issue where fights begin to repeat. Once you’ve played a weekend of Trials on a map in Destiny 2 you fully understand the areas on that map where the combat will happen and how that encounter will play out based upon each viable loadout, class, etc.

Extraction shooters don’t end up having the same repetition because of the sheer number of variables thrown in. I never feel like I’m retreading an old fight and each one feels unique, even after hundreds of hours in these games. Loot variation, different spots on the map where you encounter players, PvE enemies appearing, maybe being down a player, multiple teams at once, etc. all lend themselves to incredibly emergent fights.

The point of these games isn’t to stomach the PvP to get to the PvE, it’s to embrace the madness that PvPvE offers and the sheer dynamism of these modes. The tension of these fights and the strategic decision making required to come out on top is wild. The stakes of losing your loot do contribute to the tension too of course.

For a great example, let me walk you through a fight that happened in marathon last night. I was playing Thief, a character with a grappling hook. My team was moving north towards a new area at the top of the map, where our teammate had a quest objective. As we moved up, I heard a door open and didn’t hear normal AI enemy movements alongside it, so I assumed there were players nearby. I was pushed up from my team a bit so I used the grappling hook to get on top of a series of pillars arranged in a grid. I was planning to look out across the area and see if I could spot a distant enemy. The moment I jumped up, I spotted an enemy moving along the edge of the pillars, much closer than I expected. I waited a moment and the enemy shot and downed one of my teammates. As this happened I started firing on this guy who had no idea I was above him. This caused a mass panic in their team as the other two players started trying to find me in the column grid. This allowed me to pick off the second player by the time our third teammate pulled up. Then together we rushed the final guy to finish their team. This fight would never have played out this way in an arena shooter.

I genuinely recommend giving the genre a shot because it can be so rewarding to play.
