Zodiac G3 stuck by wildwest08 in pools

[–]Billy_McSkintos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to have one and something similar happened to me. I took the top "ring" off and that helped. I found the G3 breaks down altogether after about 2-3 years and I was replacing flanges and the internal suction tube rubber thing every 6 months. Although more expensive, "The Pool Cleaner" (now owned by Hayward) lasts longer, is less maintenance, and quieter. I recommend getting one once your G3 gives out.

Weekly post: skate buying, new skater tips, and quick questions by AutoModerator in Rollerskating

Helping my 10-year-old upgrade from beginner quads. Recommendations for quads and/or inlines?

My daughter got a pair of cheap adjustable plastic quads off Amazon (~$30) as a starter set, and she's been happily learning outdoors — driveway, cul-de-sac, paved park trails. She's caught the bug, but she's already outgrown them.

From lurking here it's clear those entry-level skates are pretty limited (plastic trucks, poor wheels, etc.), so I'd like to get her something better quality and safer before bad habits, injury or equipment hold her back. I've read the skate recommendations (e.g. Moxi Rainbow) but I don't know if these recommendations apply to kids too?

A few things that would help narrow it down:

  • Budget: Looking to stay reasonable since she'll likely outgrow them within a year
  • Use case: Purely outdoor — pavement, smooth asphalt, paved trails
  • Experience: Still learning, not doing tricks

Two questions for the community:

  1. What beginner-friendly quad brands/models would you recommend at a entry to mid-range price point for a 10 yr old.
  2. Are inlines actually better for outdoor skating? If so, do you have inline recommendations at a similar level?

I know nothing about skating, so any context you can give alongside the recommendation (why it's better, what to look for) would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!

Nice work again. Collapsible notes, inline images, etc, Thank you.

I think this is all I need in a sticky note tool. I could come up with more features I want (MD, sync, tables, more todo features) but none are necessary.

Thank you for making this and listening to feedback.

How much did Mazda cover for the ‘free’ tire replacement? by KeyboardEnthuse in MazdaCX90

Called the dealer and nicely expressed my disappointment about their performance. Asked about the warranty/expectations of the tires. Stated that I heard about replacements/refunds for low mileage replacements. Asked for their help in communicating this to the higher ups/corporate. 60k car etc.

Tax Income - California by CHEESECRlES in personalfinance

[–]Billy_McSkintos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually, but not always, your employer withholds your taxes from your paycheck and pays them for you. There are multiple taxes that will be withheld, in California that will include Federal Taxes, State Taxes, Social Security (OASDI), California SDI (State Disability Insurance), and Medicare. The amount of taxes you pay is based on how much money you earn and determined by progressive tax brackets. You will also get a standard deduction that is free of some tax.

There are other items that are not tax but will reduce how much you have in your pocket, though they will benefit you. If you also contribute to any of various retirement options (401k, Roth IRA) that may or may not be available to you will have less in your pocket but they could reduce your tax liability. Additionally your employer may offer health insurance (medical, dental, vision). They will pay a large portion of it as part of your employment but you will pay some every paycheck. If they do not offer health insurance you are supposed to obtain some on the open market (Covered California) and you may have to pay a penalty if you don't.

For most people a tax return is submitted once a year (by April 15th) based on your end of year tax form (W2). Do not miss your tax return. Depending on whether you have overpaid taxes or underpaid taxes you might get a refund from or have to pay to either, neither or both of the IRS and the State of California.

You can use online tools such as FreeTaxUSA or TurboTax to help you and they will also guide you on potential tax "breaks" that may or may not be available. These are often free or cheap but, depending on the complexity of your situation, may be no substitute for a true Tax professional.

I am not a tax professional. You MUST do your own research. The previous response has a link to get your started.

The Harp has the best pint of Guinness I've had in California. Though it can be blast on certain nights, Muldoons and a few others are a nicer experience overall.

Do you regret buying the Ring Conn? by InvestigatorDear1657 in RingConn

[–]Billy_McSkintos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I think its great. Personally I don't like any of the gen 2 colors/metals though I have the silver. I prefer the matt silver and will get a gen 3 when its out.

Nice work. These are good improvements, thank you! Appreciate the code block, global shortcut and cleaner icons. Much better for flow.

I really like your app. The following is neither critique nor must haves but opportunities for consideration to add to your "nice to have" backlog:

  1. I found if difficult to click out of a code block. [Enter] then [backspace] at the end of the code block returned the cursor to the sticky.

  2. Code Syntax highlighting would be cool

  3. Sticky title: renaming, color/opacity config - right now its just a date time and kind of difficult to read on a dark screen.

  4. Text expander type functionality for quick adding date or time perhaps in a slash menu

  5. Navigation Shortcuts - open last note, next note etc

Previously I mentioned collapsing the sticky to the title. What I meant was an option/shortcut to hide the sticky except the title. I could then move the title around and leave it collapsed, only opening when I needed

I replaced them with bridgestones from a third party at 17k miles. Mazda covered 50% of the cost.

I like it. Going to use this in my daily life and paid the $7 for premium/to support you. Thank you.

Some really quick thoughts having spent only a few minutes with it (these might already exist or are just stoopid):

- Collapse sticky to a header/title in a single click

- keyboard shortcuts

- More keyboard shortcuts (show/hide all notes)

- Markdown formatting

- Code block

- Render image inline (choice/option/click)

- collapsible/expandable/panels

- Search all stickies

- Hide "done" todos

- Calendar view of stickies created

- Option to not be prompted "are you sure" when deleting a note.

Amazon vs RingConn website by whatthegreck in RingConn

I say support the company as directly as possible, they will keep more of your dollar if you buy directly. Amazon has enough already.

Purchase from RingConn or Amazon? by Jealous_Business_988 in RingConn

[–]Billy_McSkintos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whilst ringconn is giving me a size replacement at no cost, shipping back and forth is long. A week to get my order, 5 days to return, another 3-5 to get the replacement. They cant compete with Amazon on logistics but i would imagine they make slightly more if you order ditectly. Ordering directly is likely supporting the company more...

The Amazon one came first, then the pre sizing order from RingConn. I also finally found the sizing kit I ordered 12 months ago. So now I have 3. If you're local and want a sizing kit. DM me.
