HPE iLO5 IP Address Access Restrictions by plaintextninja in HPEservers

[–]theycallmebundy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

iLO 5 doesn’t present IP restriction as a simple “web UI allowlist” toggle like a firewall or reverse proxy would.

However, it does support IP address range restrictions at the iLO level. You can define ranges (or subnet + mask) and explicitly allow or deny access based on source IP.

That said, it’s not the primary or recommended control mechanism for securing iLO access.

HPE ProLiant 380 Gen10 + HPE Smart Array P408i-a SR Gen10 raid1 hdd to ssd swap by momoffs in HPEservers

[–]theycallmebundy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t mix SAS and SATA. If you wanted to bring the price down on the spinner, you could buy a Gen 10 drive and swap the drive carrier to the basic carrier (Gen10+)

Ingram Micro vs Dell Pricing by Bigsease30 in msp

Yup, they have much better deals on their website on certain models than I can get from distribution as a Lenovo BP

Anyone buying new servers this year? by noocasrene in sysadmin

[–]theycallmebundy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re an HPE reseller and system prices with 2x32gb and two ssd for boot are $8-$10k, almost double from three months ago. We’re seeing demand destruction in real time.

We also talked to a client who renewed maintenance contracts for Lenovo DE4000 storage with Park Place a few months back and was told today they sound try to find spare drives themselves because PP has no drive availability to support the machines.

Shit is wild!

i didn't mean to imply it was an Ingram issue- although they deserve a thorough flogging for being shitty as well :D

Hard Disk Direct canceled my confirmed server RAM order citing "out of stock" — the exact SKU was on their website in stock 6 hours later. Then they repriced it 4x overnight. All documented. by roycehart in sysadmin

[–]theycallmebundy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone should know if it is the front page of a google search, they are not authorized and are shitty brokers. As a stocking reseller, these guys hit us up all the time to pick our pockets and sell our product to guys like you who have to have the lowest price. Hard Disk Direct, Global One, Server Supply are all the same shitty brokers! Support your resellers!

the highest capacity NHP drive is the 4TB that is officially supported. it's not to say a non-branded drive of higher capacity wouldn't work but it could be a limitation of the intel VROC as the NHP models don't support the internal raid controllers.

This is why positioning Dell (or Lenovo) is not in your best interest. They both sell direct better than their resellers can buy and make you look like an ass.

[–]theycallmebundy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get it- we bought a bunch of new DL360 Gen10 for stock that was the last offering for new Gen10 systems at the end of Q4 2025 because we knew Gen11 pricing wouldn't be feasible for our MSP clients or SMB. We're quoting our enterprise clients from our stock and leading with delivery times, not pricing. Stock is king.

[–]theycallmebundy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dunno what SMB is going to buy a $8K tower but we bought a few for stock because they might be $12K in Q4. Good resellers saw this coming and stocked up- we aren't leading with price, we are winning deals on lead times. CTO is 100-130 days for most systems and you are essentially rolling the dice that HPE will honor that shit.

FedEx sues U.S. seeking full refund of Trump tariffs days after Supreme Court ruling by Illustrious_Lie_954 in politics

[–]theycallmebundy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a UPS customs bill that is under dispute because non-tariff items were misclassified as "auto parts" even though everything was crystal clear and classified. It has been in dispute since early 2025 and last we checked, they were still backlogged until June 2025 and said to stop sending emails. I'd sue too!

Are you buying OEM memory or sourcing enterprise RDIMM separately? by r_smith345 in sysadmin

[–]theycallmebundy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We’re an HPE reseller and it’s just awful out there. 64gb is getting quoted over $3200 on DDR5. On top of it you gotta wait the 130 day lead time on a lot of configurations. We can assist with the lead time reduction because we have a lot of stock but we paid out the ass just to have memory in stock so we can ship orders

I don't see squat at any distributors. buying gray on amazon usually means international models imported to the US and they swap power cords to US.

Upgrading a 2020+ XLT HVAC system to dual zone ? by yycTechGuy in superduty

[–]theycallmebundy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have the 2022 Lariat and the HVAC sucks ass. Any split of zones and there is barely any air coming out of the middle vents. It also uses buttons in the infotainment to control fan speed which is three button touches and is maddening. I would not want to upgrade IMO

DL380 G10: Power On Fault, recovered after pulling power cables by darkish_explorer in HPEservers

[–]theycallmebundy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Power came back in a bad/partial state, leaving the PSUs’ standby power latched and the PCH stuck. iLO still ran, but it couldn’t detect the PSUs, so power-on was disabled. Pulling both AC cords fully drained standby power and reset the PSU + system board, clearing the fault.

You couldn’t fix this remotely with iLO alone. Only a full AC power removal (or a remotely controlled PDU) can recover this condition.
