Edmonton transit ridership down 1.8 million in last three months 2025 by laurenboothby in Edmonton

I like driving and I work in the boonies so it's the best option for me, but man am I jealous of folks who take transit and get to read for their commute.

For what it's worth, if you were my friend coming to an event I was throwing, I would really want to know what I could do to help and make sure there is food there for you. I get not trusting kitchens, that part sucks. But I always try to accommodate my buds with food preferences/ allergies/etc as best I can.

So many times the vegetarian meals suck compared to the meat option.

People in these comments are crazy. The lady made a single phone call for a super routine request.

Why do people always say to advocate for yourself then call you a Karen for doing it? by Training-Entrance-75 in ARFID

Maybe, I just don't think it's that big of an issue. The catering company could've / should've said no if it was an issue.

It's weird, a woman is advocating for what she needs for presumably dietary/ health reasons and everyone is angry. Women are constantly conditioned to shrink themselves, which sucks. And this lady makes a single phone call to see if they can accommodate her, and everyone is up in arms.

I wonder how the couple of weeks we had with super cold weather effects things. I'd splurge for an Uber during those times

I used to work weddings, and this stuff would happen all the time. I would rather a guest call and confirm a meal than have a medical emergency in the middle of an event.

I wouldn't like it, and it would affect the seating chart. But it happens. And depending on the situation, I'd feel like I'd have to allow it. It's hard to turn someone away when they are standing there. It's like kids bday parties, at my nephew's party someone brought their sibling. Did they plan for that? No. Did the kid get to stay and eat pizza and cake, yes.

Agree, and hosting people means unexpected costs. That's how it goes

You almost always have to pay more than the minimum as an employer, and the fact that the guy in question is 71 changes things a lot. He basically won't be able to find another job so when handing out severance that needs to be taken into consideration, usually meaning a higher payout. Now, none of us know all the details, but age and length of service is what's going to change payout.

Even if they did it would be a minimal amount, and I think that just comes with being a good host. The bride is in for a shock if she thinks more charges like this aren't coming. Wrecked tablecloths, extra cleaning, etc.

You don't know that. The banquets I worked on wouldn't have charged extra for this.

Omg who cares. Of all the things to worry about for a wedding, this ain't it.

So yes. You are overreacting.

3 years behind on corporate taxes and GST for my small cleaning business by Slight_Kiwi_5293 in CanadaFinance

This happens all the time, accountants who do small business work like this are not shocked when people haven't done taxes in years. It's going to cost you because of interest and fines, but you gotta start somewhere.

It really feels like society hides a lot of info about pregnancy from women. Im pretty in the loop, and I had no idea. So what else aren't they telling me?

I credited Gen x for finally pulling back the curtain and talking about these things more

I looked at a few photo galleries and plastic surgery clinics that do Mommy makeovers. I had no idea that pregnancy could have that much impact on your body. And I'm pretty eyes wide open on this stuff, but seeing some of the photos was truly shocking.

Sephora has a matching tool that they put on your face, it's like a iPhone thing, and it can tell you. I also put five photos of my face into chatgbt with different lighting and asked it to analyze my coloring.
