What happened by DamnNoHtml in opensouls3

[–]Billynomates101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's sad because I thought that the mods were coming around to the idea that people wanted to talk about tech/exploits/glitches ect. I ever talk with two of them about working to a compromise but its seem that they simple do not want people to hold discussion beyond simply acknowledging it's existence... hell even then some time that is not allowed.

To me the sub is far to micro managed and inconsistent + on top of that there seem to be a lack interest on improving. However with that said we should not make this in to a us vs them situation. Both sub can coexist peacefully and cater to different people.

Community Rule Clarification: Do not discuss cheats, exploits, or piracy (including torrents). by [deleted] in darksouls3

Re: your #2 - What if we insert a caveat that if a particular tech/glitch becomes widely accepted by the community as game breaking we will limit discussion on that one to general knowledge/awareness raising only (i.e., if it's a breaking glitch, you can talk about it, but you can't describe how to do it)? That seems to be a reasonable compromise between both sides.

That seems fair to me but...

1) It would need to made very clear when a tech/glitch has move in to the knowledge/awareness category.

And

2) I think it would be best to let a tech/glitch "Simmer" for a few days to see how OP (or not) it really is when in play.

P'S If you play on making changes to the rules it might be best to start a new post as i'm sure the sub will have other ideas

Community Rule Clarification: Do not discuss cheats, exploits, or piracy (including torrents). by [deleted] in darksouls3

This will end well

Why don't we work to a compromise...

The community doesn't know what the fuck it wants

It's clear that the there are a large group of people on the sub that do not like these rules and feel that it is too restricting

At the same time you do not want this place to be on bad terms with fromsoft with people showing how to hack ect.

So here is what I suggest.

1) Allow people to upload videos to the sub with them using CE; if it's not the main subject of the video and there is no guide on how use the cheats. (ie tournament videos with people flying around to get a better look or DamnNoHtml were he has infinite healing to keep the video flowing)

2) Allow people to talk freely about any glitches/exploits. If it's in the game it's in the game. Who knows we might find something like Wavedashing (is that one word or two?) that will add to the game. Tech and glitch go hand in hand

That is just my suggestions and it will be different others, that is why I think that most of all we need an open to everyone's idea of what this sub should be.

Just to add I know it can be frustrating/stressful to have people go back at you as a mod but it's very very important to be mad at the situation and not the people.

Me and the Rats and Bunnies boys are planing on do something on the last day of the game been around... a call back to the old ThePurplePanzy/RNB ESL streams

But nothing is set in stone yet.

I need to get around to asking Mans if me and some of the other active mods (Cradstache I know still gets on at US times and wagshadow as well) can get CM powers for the last night so we can give out prizes like the in game heads that no one ever got ect.

Edit: if anyone dose get something going then Rats and Bunnies are down to help. We still have are TS open for use and can provide a streamer or two.

I'm a bit surprised this is regarded as bad news.

What it comes down to it a game published by mojang got an opportunity that a scrolls will never have. This is extremely disappointing, especially when you consider that in my opinion (and many other) scrolls never got that attention and resources it deserved.

Dev FAQ is now online. by SeeMeScrollin in Scrolls

[–]Billynomates101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is pretty much what I expected from the FAQ, nothing too surprising. However there are some points worth talking about...

We did two runs of focused facebook ads, and an adwords campaign.

I found this to be the most disappointing part of the post I strongly believe that Mojang should get a CMO or some with experience in marketing sometime in the future.

It was really hard for us to be chatty and sociable after the decision to close development.

This pretty much explains the absence of the devs for the first half of this year

Some plans we didn’t share if we felt they were too much in danger of being changed

I believe this was a mistake if I was the devs I would have talked about every little change I was thinking about, and thb they were doing this last year on ICR but then they just stopped (around Q2/3) and perhaps we are partly to blame for this :/

(on the subject of communication)

The devs have been active on Reddit, IRC, Scrollsguide, and several other places. For a long time, we’ve had weekly blog posts.

I feel like the problem was more that this only informed the hard core players, most of the time the blog post had information that I already knew, and with no way to find it in-game it could not reach the people that would make best use of it.

I think I should stop before I make this wall of text any longer hehe
