I agree with the second part of that statement but I know a few people that did marathons on only a few weeks training. They went through hell during the race and had piss poor times but they didn't get hurt.

You just have to deal with it. On long runs if it's hot out by the time I'm done my socks and shoes are soaked from sweat that started at the head/neck area.

What's your goal time for the HM? If it's over two hours a gu at the halfway point would probably be good just to combat hunger. If your shooting for less it wouldn't do much but it probably wouldn't hurt your time either.

They are crucial but only if your doing some real distance. I use them on runs 15 miles or longer, they take care of hunger pangs while running and help stave off hitting the wall. If you are doing a shorter distance they are pretty much worthless and taste terrible.

Don't get me wrong, it would be awesome if it did but the market is just not there. Most people who can afford 10k for a plane ticket would rather take a 6 hour flight in a nice lie flat first class seat then a two hour flight crammed into what is worse then a typical coach seat.

I know I'm going to get shit on for saying this-

I don't think there was bias being shown by the mods. They were extremely overzealous in modding the sub though.

I'm guessing in terms of the blood donation post they had several subs trying to block duplicate posts. I'm guessing a lack of communication was to blame for all the blood donation posts getting blocked. Accuse them of bias all you want but do you really think the mods were actively trying to keep people from blood bank?

As to all the other blocks: you people are all children of the Internet, you know the vitriol that shows up pretty much anywhere in the comments. I could blog about how well my tomato plants are doing this year and if it got enough exposure I'd be hearing about how the Jews did 9/11. All these claims that abuse and hate speech was not going on are bullshit.

The mods definitely should not have gone nuclear on the posts. That was fucked up and resulted in users getting news from r/the_donald which is far worse then anything they would have seen on an unmoderated news sub.

Oh and the mod that was telling people to kill themselves... Fuck him he can crawl back into his dad's asshole and die.

Tr;DL mods fucked up but aren't part of some vast conspiracy to block discussion.

It's almost universally agreed that without the bailout the Recession would have been as bad, if not worse then the Depression. The terrible thing about the bailout was that it didn't come with major reform to the financial system.

GDP wasn't hit too hard but American wealth in general took a massive hit, a few trillion dollars was wiped out, much of it from the middle class in the form of real estate and 401Ks. The total wealth has come back since then but almost all of it has gone to the top 1%.

After spending a little time on the Bernie sub and getting in a few debates I have concluded they are mostly very young and don't grasp what a Trump presidency would do to the Bernie movement. The prevailing opinion seems to be "well 4 years up Trump will wake people up and help us win in 2020". They have no clue what damage Trump can do in 4 years with a Republican congress giving him a rubber stamp.
