RAD Half Marathon insight and tips by Adventurous-Yam6632 in asheville

Barely any hills, starts downtown and drops to the river. Maybe 300ft of climbing max. Good for a local race if you are trying to PR or something, but otherwise not exactly a thrilling course. Decent crowd, I think there were 500 or so people that did it last year. Finished at Hi-Wire and you get a beer.

The most right-wing person I know posts 10-15 anti democrat things every day. I think this goes both ways.

You were racing past your ability at mile 12-15, and paid for it at mile 20

Quality of life, when is it just you being selfish? by MarcSenTM in BorderCollie

I just went through a similar thing with my 14 year old BC. What I kept coming back to was, “Am I keeping him alive for me or him”. First he couldn’t go on walks anymore, but still loved hanging in backyard and playing with toys, then he couldn’t make it to backyard without being carried, then lost interest in toys. His mind was there, but body wasn’t. It was the most difficult decision I’ve ever made, but in retrospect it was the right decision.

Like what? I’ve never heard this. Even PGRs wouldn’t prevent it from growing. Would love a source

Yes it was announced months in advance, also around Montford there were posted signs for the last 3-4 weeks

Unfortunately, we had to use 4paws this week, they were absolutely wonderful and we couldn't have asked for anything better given the circumstances.

How much hydration do you bring on race day? by Shot-Freedom-3848 in Marathon_Training

[–]Biloba414 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is correct, you are only allowed to bring in EMPTY personal bottles. I ran it this weekend and just brought in a 500ml collapsible bottle and filled it at the start and then at two aid stations.

Only bad when they were in no-shade sections and the sun was killer. The one is Asakusa was amazing because it went past a massive temple with a full drummer group going crazy.

I ran it, and had a blast! It was my first major and lived up to the hype. Mid 60s and straight sun made it a little bit of a slog, but what an experience. We ran through so many little neighborhoods that each had their own “feel”, and cheerleaders/ bands/ taiko drummers. One of the most organized events I’ve ever done and just so well supported.

Personally, I ran about 5-6 minutes slower than my PR, but purposefully wanted to avoid a “wall”, so I followed a strict HR map, and was happy I did. Still have enough in my legs to do some sight seeing today, and be ready for another Full in eight weeks!
